As a former resident of Jackson Ms, if I lived in the St George area I'd be fighting tooth and nail for secession. Nothing good is going to come to Baton Rouge. Like the former residents of Jackson, you can bitch and moan at the goings on and moan some more and be SHOCKED at the government of BR but it will not be to your favor. Don't waste your energy sharing FB stories of some stupid thing a BR government official said/did. It will never end. If you plan on staying in the area then you NEED to isolate yourself from the insanity.
Madison Ms is a pretty decent place to live all thing considered. St George, La would probably be even better and decent place to call home.

That's why Capital Heights real estate is doing poorly. So ghetto.

The primary issue when comparing Madison/Jackson to St. George/Baton Rouge is that Madison is in a different County than Jackson.
St. George's proposed boundaries are within East Baton Rouge Parish, and consolidated form of government that exists in EBR means a lot of the "problems" they want fixed would still go through City Hall.
I'm not against St. George trying again...I just don't think the idea is the solution to what is ultimately desired, an independent school district.

What? I thought 1600 square foot homes were going for well over $300,000 there.

quote:Wrong. A "Pastor" is the Catholic term for the parish priest.. or the presiding priest of a particular parish.
I have never heard of a Priest referred to as a Pastor. Thats some baptist stuff.
A Baptist minister is most commonly referred to as a preacher. Pastor is also a protestant term and can be used for many types of ordained or non-ordained presbyters.... (youth pastor, music pastor, etc..)

That area isn't doing poorly, but people consider it acceptable in Baton Rouge to spend upwards of $350k on a house that will get pillaged multiple times by their northern neighbors. Why do we just accept that?

The transformation TBR has made from an anti-crime group into a community organizing wing of the left is despicable. Bagert used his Catholic background to recruit some of the local Parish Pastors (like St. George), knowing good and well what his intentions were with the group.
That's exactly what happened. He found those more liberal-leaning priests and came in with all the warm and fuzzy vibes. Once they get a parish or other congregation to partner with them they try to leverage power to get ordinances and laws passed in the Met-Co and the legislature by claiming that ALL of the people in those congregations side 100% with their pet causes.

Just looking at the picture of that dirty white liberal from NOLA who runs this shite tells me that he's a crooked piece of shite.

Does she honestly think her message is resonating with the OT? White liberals are such wackos.

Baton Rouge wrote its obituary when SWB was elected mayor. The parish as we know it will cease to exist in its present form in the very near future. The old money that accepts the steadily declining status quo and the progressives will learn hard lessons. They will get less with less money and less control. Their property values will sink while their property taxes increase. The road rage and traffic will increase each successive year for the next 10 years.

Redemptorist guy? I remember Rodi the wrestler.
I would love to see some response to TBR's listing of the cost/benefit analysis of Industrial tax breaks, with the cost per job created. LINK
Seems like a legit study raising issues pertinent to EBRP Taxpayers, and those around the state.

We're not allowed to shoot them to save property.

ISC Contractors
Oh wait, his company serves all the plants along the river, who take all the huge tax breaks from the state in return for promising jobs, then outsource the old good union jobs to ISC Contractors to save $. Yeah, he's not biased.
What a bunch of suckers.
