I assume they'll say something about not holding him while they investigate further, but they can hold him atleast 24 hours and they didn't even do that. Pretty interesting situation now.

Knowing that there's no question he did kill him, they have to have some pretty solid evidence of justification to release him the next day

They can only hold him 24 hours right? By then they would have to charge him. But they probably don't know yet which nurder charge it will be - from manslaughter on up.

JP is stupid to not at least release statement about it.

Your title is misleading- it doesn't say he won't be charged it just states that the investigation is ongoing.

Riots in Jeff Parish? Lol. They will put that down real quick.

Maybe they happen in Orleans Parish though.

Yeah wasn't even 24 hours. Can't see how he got released without even a manslaughter charge.

Even then, that's a question for the jury in my mind.

They decided in less than 18 hours after the killing of a local celebrity in broad daylight to release the man with no statement or anything.

That's bizarre.

Explain how he isn't a killer. Explain that. I'll wait.

It wasn't a cop. Nothing to see here.

Oh, I totally agree. If for no other reason than keeping the peace

she saw a man at the intersection yelling at McKnight, who was trying to apologize. The man shot McKnight more than once, the witness said. She said he shot McKnight, stood over him and said, "I told you don't you f--- with me." Then the man fired again, she said.

I mean, they have to have video evidence or something to at least dispute this part (which does sound incredible) to release this dude before they even have to, right?

As much as I want this guy to get the needle, I;ll wait for the facts. Secondly,I doubt he's fleeing the country. People are released all the time. But there has to be a reason there are no charges yet.

Explain this to us. He was not the killer? It was someone else? McKnight shot himself?

interesting to release him with no statement.

I do find it odd how all witness stories would be the same. That is rather unusual especially for passer bys.

Is it in any way possible that they think they have the wrong guy?

That doesn't seem very bright. They should have held him as long as they are allowed so that they can avoid unrest. They have to know the narrative that is out right now. If it's wrong, they need to set the record straight ASAP.
