Also they are showing videos of the scene outside one of the shooting locations. Cops and CSI are just standing around and putting on scrubs like they're ready to recover bodies. If he was on the loose, I doubt they would just be chilling like that.
Maybe I am wrong, but it just seems they wouldn't do any crime scene investigation until he was caught or killed.
