i see a painting that looks like someone gave a 3 year old a can of paint and a brush. then.....i get hammered by someone who thinks it's incredible.

good art.......to me........is a painting that looks just like the original person, object, place, etc...

how do you judge this shite?

The "art" of being an artist is getting someone to pay a shite ton of money for it.

Same. For the big time artists it's just a money laundering scheme anyways.

The only art I appreciate is realism art that is virtually almost impossible to tell the difference that it is actually art

Come on, not just anyone can do abstract art with a roller and a flat of paint.

Wait, yeah they pretty much can. I don’t get it either.

Much of the high dollar art trade is basically money laundering.

There are some very talented abstract artists. Most are not.

Art is a reflection of a culture during the period. Through out history, you can look at the art of that era and determine what people of that time valued. In the future, aliens will view this era of humanity as a cultural dark age.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Same with music.

Now go research NFTs and ask why anyone would pay for digital art that can be easily duplicated

The whole point of modern "art" is to be pointless and vulgar. Architecture has fallen into this swamp too. Ever since Frank Lloyd Wright and others began scarring the landscape with their depressing designs we have have been forced to see ugliness at every turn.

I hope to live long enough to see these modern monstrosities burned, imploded, and forever erased from the earth.

Does the piece fit within a larger whole or are you viewing it out of context that the artist intended? Can you identify the emotion the artist put in to their work? What medium is it? How about colors, are they unique?

I don't claim to understand art, but I understand why people purchase works of art.

I follow a pretty basic rule for art - if it looks like I could do it, then it's not good art
