it's a shitty mall, but no it isn't. it's near a shitty part of town, but it's closer to one of the richest areas of town.

Could the kids be involved? Not many facts and they don’t add.

I see what you're getting at- but logic rarely comes into play with people who pull this crap. Maybe they had something shiny that he liked.

Something is fishy.
Perhaps. But if it happened the way it's been reported, there's probable lots surveillance video of this creep shadowing them prior to making contact. But we will see......

This is an odd sequence of circumstances.
A couple with the means to transfer money electronically on their phones wants to help a stranger at a mall get a ride home, and instead of using their phones for an Uber or Lyft, tells their kids that are with them to go home separately?
They seemed to know there was a risk that they did not want to expose their children to.
Their interest had to have been much more than simply ensuring a stranger had a ride home, because there was a safer way to do it .

Fishy indeed. Why would they drain their daughters account? Would the perp actually think to demand that? Or did they just try to compile as much money as they could and GTFO?

I felt safer in Iraq than I do in New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and Shreveport. Atleast when I was in Iraq, I had body armor, ammo out the arse, and an Apache flying overhead.
Yep, and all my friends were armed.
That was a beautiful thing - if you didn't have your weapon and your ID card, you couldn't eat in Iraq.

Sounds like a drug deal gone bad.
Not sure, but it doesn't sound like these people were strangers

This incident sounds like it could be the basis of "The Night Of - Season 2"

Looked at their Facebook pages and the lady was complaining about people throwing up in her car a few weeks ago while she was driving for Uber.

Husband had 2 pages. Looks like he was in the Air Force, up until recently. Appear to be quite ordinary.
Could very well be these were just two souls trying with the best of intentions to be decent and paid for it with their lives.
I hope their families find peace.

On the north side of the mall, crime is horrible. a few miles to the South West is Ceder Grove, which is a horrendous area. I acknowledge that the east side of the mall is a decent area, but doesn't negate the other parts.

Crump decides to retire
Guess he’s seen the writing on the wall. It’s retire or get fired when the new mayor takes over. He’s had enough trying to deny that crime is skyrocketing.

The lady was a house cleaner and drove for Lyft. Her husband worked at Lowes in some capacity. I'm not sure there was a lot of money to go around which may explain why they transferred from the daughters account just to scrape up what they could.
Things that stand out to me, they said the car was parked under the carport at the burned house...it's hard to imagine they pulled up under that carport willingly. Either he killed them and parked the car there or had them pull up there by force/threat
Apparently they lived in Waskom, Texas but spent a lot of time in Shreveport. It's hard for me to imagine giving a ride late at night to a stranger in a place I don't live..

I did this only once in college at LA Tech. Large black guy approached me in the dorm parking lot one night about 10:00. He nearly cornered me asking for a ride to his grandma’s house up the road. We drove toward Grambling and kept driving further off the beaten path. I was freaking out inside but finally we made it and he got out. I drove off and swore I would never do that again!

Man, this whole story is just all messed up. Prayers for the family. Sounds almost like the guy got the drop on the parents from the beginning.

That's great for Shreveport, but I have a feeling it won't help too much, since Shreveport's economy is in the crapper.
