Why should I feel like im chasing someone to give them my money but it happens alot.

You should try owning a business and dealing with commercially licensed plumbers. You don’t have to worry about getting fricked..you’re definitely getting fricked…it’s just a matter of how bad.

In general I agree that more folks need to go into the trades but, $120/yr is probably year 25 of that and you barely supported yourself on the 3 job changes the first 5 yrs trying to earn an extra 2 bucks.

The few good ones have all the business they can handle.

The rest of them (the majority) are worthless fricks who are unemployable and it’s either the trades or jail.

Plus General Contractors are very evil people

There was a line in Naked Gun where someone asks Ricardo Montalban, " How'd he become so evil and unfeeling.

Full disclosure: I'm a sub.

With that out of the way, I think some contractor hate is justified and some isn't. I run into good ones, and I run into bad ones. The entire schedule is a house of cards. So many moving parts across multiple jobs. It's like juggling chainsaws. That said, even the best drop the ball on communication from time to time. I know I'm guilty. I like to believe I'm the best in my trade in my area, but I also recognize that I fall short from time to time.

I've seen people come into the industry thinking they could do better, and they get their ego checked pretty quickly. Making things worse is the huge influx of private equity into the trades. Many good owners with valuable businesses have sold out to PE, and that leaves you, the average consumer, with the option of using a shite PE-owned company, or a company that wasn't worth PE's money. Any good companies outside of those two are so booked up that they likely don't work for your schedule or budget.
