for the next year it will probably be the safest place to go in Baton Rouge, only because of what just happened. And because of what just happened it won't really matter.

The mall of LA was the place to be in 90s and 2000s. It slowly started going downhill. I have went once in last decade and when I went I was stunned. I won’t say the race but there was one demographic of mostly young people who looked sketchy. They weren’t even shopping it looked like they were just hanging around up to no good. A shooting was bound to happen.

I doubt it survives. I won’t step foot in there ever again.

Saw someone on the NextDoor app trying to say that one of the guys wasn't bad. This is the problem, the culture will still take up for them. Some young punks just shut down a mall even though it'll take a few years to materialize.

I don’t live far from the Mall and go regularly with my daughter.

It’s pretty clear that most posters don’t patronize the mall and are talking out their asses.

They usually always have officers walking the mall and some in the parking lot. I have never felt unsafe.

The Advocate just did a story recently at how impressive it is that the mall has managed to not only stay afloat but thrive in the age of online ordering. There’s maybe one ghetto hair store but the rest of the mall is pretty solid. The new Dicks is incredible, the main flagships have stayed, the hot girl brands are still there- Victoria’s Secret, Zara, H&M plus outside you have Apple, Sephora & Rally House is really nice. We’re very fortunate to still have our mall.

Y’all can choose to let the thugs take over the things & spaces we enjoy and dictate your freedoms but I’m not.

I do pretty much all my shopping online now. Free returns and easier to use promo codes at checkout. And you get a product that more than likely nobody has tried on.

We don’t have kids yet so arcade/aquarium/food court doesn’t appeal to us but I understand people who want to let their kids have fun. I just don’t think it’s worth being around all that trash to do so.
If I wanted to walk amongst a bunch of pants hanging off asses, nba jerseys and rap blaring on phones id just walk down Florida Blvd during the workday.

If I ever do step foot back in there, alone or with my wife, best believe I’m carrying.

I go to Dick’s House of Sport from time to time, but unless I’m with someone who wants to walk around the mall, I rarely go inside or stroll through it. If I ever needed to go in for something, though, I wouldn’t have any problem doing so.

Beautiful 17 year old woman was murdered by armed thug with long criminal history. The out of state MOL owners and store owners did nothing to protect her. I don't see how anyone could support the MOL. You, a love one, or a dear friend could be next. Let the MOL close up, then get torn down to an open field.
PS, Jeff Landry just ran his stupid mouth, he ain't gonna do shite.

This is just...wrong. As several posters have said, there is a security presence at the mall, which actually probably saved a few lives due to their quick actions to disrupt what was going on.

It is natural to want to blame everything in the world, but I can't find fault with the mall.

Thugs killed her, not the mall. Aside from a security presence, the mall would need metal detectors and armed guards posted up every 50 feet to truly prevent crime, and even then…

If I’m in public, the only one looking out for me is myself.

A youth shot a security guard in the head at Lennox Mall in Atlanta not that long ago and the mall is still thriving.

We can't have anything nice because of them.

The MoL began it's decline about 5 years after it opened. This is not the first shooting and won't be the last because they don't value any life including their own and city leaders and LE are powerless to deal with the issue.

I was there. I went to Dicks and bought some stuff for my son and then into the mall and across the way to ZARA for my daughter. Not letting that shite deter my way of life. There was definitely a huge police presence there Saturday I will admit.
