90mph winds and zero rain in almost a year has nothing to do with politics. These fires would rage even under the most conservative municipal and state government.

Texas, Florida and other gulf states have had their fair share of natural disasters. Minnesota is as left wing as they come and seems immune. It's not a political thing.

KCAL said Tuesday night that downtown LA has an annual rainfall of 2.3" and thus far they had recorded 0.02"

so record Santa Ana winds and zero rain is a recipe for disaster no matter what the Gov did or didnt do

That being said this video is very entertaining.

he makes some great points about the bureaucratic nightmare the Deep Blue and ultra wealthy voters of Malibu, Palisades, Altadena, Pasadena, etc are about to face. These people have the means to rebuild quickly BUT the Coastal Commission, the Environmental Protection Commissions, the LA County Permit office etc are about to Eat The Rich

Homes and swimming pools that were grandfathered in and the re-build isnt covered by the grandfather clause etc. Designs that are no longer allowed, areas under construction bans, double hulled swimming pools, new electric and plumbing codes, etc. He says from planning to permitting to delivery of materials could be 2 to 3 year processes.
Holy shite

I completely agree, but they were WAY behind the eight ball from the get go.

It is blatantly obvious that the CA government was caught flat footed.

They weren’t prepared at all, which is an absolute travesty.

Decisions to NOT fill reservoirs and NOT do clearcutting, as well as NOT implementing the reduction of Eucalyptus growth around residential areas are entirely political.

In the hills, yes. But if there was water available to deploy in the neighborhoods many of the houses could be saved.

Is the Rose Bowl at risk from the Altadena fire?

Fantastic. Let’s keep it to the Poli Board then. Get this thread cleaned the hell up.

this is true

what is amazing is in the video from carolla he shows a clip from the PCH from the West Sunset Blvd intersection heading north to Malibu and house after house on the beach side is burned down to the ground.

I promise you Florida would have easily had a better response.

Responding to a hurricane, which you know when and where it will hit, is significantly different than these wildfires which is akin to playing whackamole.

Texas' infrastructure was also wildly unprepared for the freeze that hit a few years ago.

Ultra blue voters want density and permitting of affordable housing and apartments. The zoning and political climate in this area is conservative with strict requirements that limit density and affordable housing.

I wouldn't think so. The western side of the fire is somewhat close, but it would need to jump a major freeway (210) and then go through a golf course before getting to the Rose Bowl.

Probably 95% of my posts are on that board. He’s just trolling. Ignore him.

What do you think is more likely to happen, wildfires in California or a one-off deep freeze event in Texas?

Hint: only one happens almost annually.
