Same except as I wasn't quite as slick. Had a small 4WD pickup and just jumped the curb. Did it for like 3 semesters before they caught me and ticketed me.
I love the baw version. I drove old German and Japanese cars in college. I’m a proper baw now with the ground clearance to prove it. I also got an absurd amount of tickets at LSU. Got called into the campus police office. Tulane too, but I never heard from New Orleans after Katrina. I also got hit by a city bus there (hit and run), so maybe they just called it even.
Pardon the thread hijack, kids. LSU sounds like a mess. Les Miles has clearly lost control of the parking team.

I work on campus now. Went to school here in the 90s. I’ve never seen it so bad.
What I’ve come to realize with LSU is that the present is always as good as it will get with LSU. Things only get worse over time.

Make her handle her own problems. Stay out of it. The time to start is now.

Schools are only interested in money, nothing else.

The on campus requirement is absolutely ridiculous. Using state funds to pay for an overinflated tuition and then requiring students to live on campus when you don't have the infrastructure is typical Louisiana politics. It's saddening but no way our daughter will end up at LSU.

When I was at LSU in the mid-90s. I had knee surgery and my doc sent in the paperwork to get me a medical tag for a semester. When I went to pick it up, the person in the parking office informed me that there were four times the number of medical tags issued than there were designated spaces. So it wasn’t guaranteed that I’d get one on any given day.
That semester, I never actually parked in a medical space - as none were ever open within a mile of my daily classes. I was on crutches.

For all of y'all berating the daughter for crying and blasting the OP for raising a "weak" child...I very much doubt the child was solely crying about the lack of parking spots.
It's probably one of her first times away from home, she's in this completely new environment, having to start her life over and make new friends, potentially tough classes that are very different from how high school classes are taught, and she was probably feeling overwhelmed and then this was the tipping point where she just broke down in tears.
I think some of us have forgotten what it's like to leave home for the first time and navigate a new environment on your own.

Tate was an awesome president - even though for three years his university miscounted rooms and parking passes. He knew this leaving. For all the people who thought he was wonderful, watch and see what other financial nonsense gets uncovered in the next 5 years.

I just passed the commuter lot on Nicholson across from the old Alex Box and there were very clearly numerous open parking spots.
So is it a lack of parking or a lack of convenient parking?

Subway must be busy, how are you able to step away and post?

I already posted here explaining how this works. Got more then I'm out. Yall ready....
1) LSU will never, ever, ever have enough parking spots for each staff, faculty member and full-time student (not counting freshman) to have their own parking spot. It is spatially and geometrically impossible (not to mention cost prohibitive).
2) Even if LSU built more parking lots and structures, they would still be located a long way from the core of campus. So LSU would still need a shuttle/transit system. And if LSU magically built all of this parking it would sit empty for 47/52 weeks of the year, only partially used during the first 2 weeks of each semester and 7-8 home football games. It would be a colossal waste of money, and
3) BR already has flooding problems, now you have acres more of impervious surface and water runoff, where does all that water go when it rains? LSU would probably have to engineer more detention and water storage which is mega expensive.
In summary, its the Manhattan island problem. If you were forced to build 1 parking spot for even 1 out of 5 people visiting/living in Manhattan, the island would be nothing but parking garages. So why does Manhattan work, most people don't have cars, people walk/bike many of their trips, and they have a great transit system. What can LSU do, make it easier to walk and bike, require freshman to live on campus and not have cars, and get more people taking the bus instead of driving.
