If you eat for fun, you will still eat and lot lose as much. It makes you not hungry but it doesn’t stop gluttonous behavior. Otherwise, it’s great.

This is the real issue with these meds for severely obese people - is that it doesn’t change the discipline or lack there of that leads to weight gain. My gastroenterologist said the people that lose the most weight are the ones who have the worst side effects and are sick most of the time, so they essentially can’t eat.

I took Zepbound and didn’t have any side effects and my weight loss was very slow because I hadn’t addressed the fact that so often I wasn’t eating because I was hungry - I was eating because my habits were shite and i had poor discipline.

Until they finally fixed it, somewhat, if you ever crossed Florida from Oneal to get on the Thruway, while doing the speed limit, you would go airborne, or possibly disengage your front axel.

Did that once in a Ram 1500 work truck. Was going just a hair over Rhys speed limit and did a Dukes of Hazzard across Florida. Wasn’t my favorite moment.
I think the age varies depending on external factors such as overall health, age and health of your parents and lifestyle.

For me it was around 45. My mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. My dad also started ailing medically - as was my MIL, which put a huge strain on my wife.

My older brother suffered a massive heart attack and almost died and a year after that, a very close friend of mine passed away from a heart attack.

Suddenly, I started to be strongly aware of how fragile life and existence really is. I’d always known, but now it felt deeply personal and inescapable.

I started thinking about my family without me and how they’d get along and how I want my son to think of me and how I want him and my wife protected from financial struggle when I’m gone.

I don’t get too wrapped up in the existential side of aging and dying - but sometimes I think about it and it makes me both sad and at peace in a way that’s hard to describe.

Yesterday was a beautiful day and I stepped outside into my backyard with my dogs and took a deep breath and felt the cold air enter my lungs - and I thought, “I’m really going to miss all this when I’m gone”. But I also am aware that I won’t miss anything in reality because I’ll be dead. It’s a weird frame of mind. So I try not to think about it as much as possible.

re: Olympic Curling

I went to a conference in Utah 20 years ago and one of the social events was curling at the Olympic training facility. It was really fun and pretty challenging.
My nephew is 23 and has never stepped behind the wheel of a vehicle and claims he never will. He takes the greyhound to visit his dad in Texas and Ubers in town and he typically walks to work.

My son is a teen and a couple years from driving age but he’s eager and excited to drive and not having to rely on me or his mom to get him places.

The announcers said players were running on to the field. I assume he means both teams, so that shoulda been a penalty

By the time he scored there were probably 40 people on the field. Absurd that it wasn’t flagged. I get that it’s a heads up play, but it annoys me that it’s lauded as this incredible feat, when the Rams offense, Saints defense and both team’s special teams were on the field when it happened.
Waking up before my wife and son and sitting in the front room with a cup of coffee and my dogs sitting near by.

Sitting on my patio when it’s raining.

Working on a puzzle with my wife.

Playing HORSE with my son in the driveway.

Walking through Lowe’s or Home Depot to brainstorm home projects.
My brother is an opioid addict. It’s ruined his life.
Very sad and frustrating to see how thoroughly it wrecks a person and everything that makes them a productive humans.

Probably to aid in breathing. Ever had asthma?

Or a deviated septum that leads to chronic nasal congestion.
I vaguely remember seeing a preview for it when we saw another movie. It looked interesting but unremarkable as I recall.

I try to imagine what people in 1983 thought. “Messy Marvin from the Hershey Syrup commercials is in a new family Christmas movie about BB guns. Also it takes place in the 1930s and is directed by the guy who directed Porkys!”

Probably a tough sell.

Yeah but No Lane, it’s What Have You dun FA me late lee!!! Come on ole miss, Lane are you gonna bring baybay Orgeron in!?”

The “Yeah, but no…” to start the quote tells me you are a keen observer of Bobby Hebert. He also uses “No, but yeah…” when he wants to mix it up.

I love that the car dealer of all people is talking about shady tactics in a negotiation process.

It’s on-brand though. Car dealers fully support the shady stuff when it benefits them.
Because once he’s committed to a rival, you have to get him out of the building because you can’t trust trust that anything he’s doing is in the best interest of the team that will be part of his competition the moment he steps off a plane in BR.

It’s the same reason why when you give your “notice” at jobs in competitive industries, they lock your PC, take your keys and phone and escort you to the door immediately.

Though it seems logical to the players of OM to allow his to finish what he started, you can’t allow him in the building the moment he commits himself to a competitor. It’s business and I’d honestly hope LSU would do the same if the tables were turned.
Spurrier was Florida and uSC but he did that weird stint at the Redskins between the two.

Cybill Shepherd

“Last Picture Show” era Cybill Shepherd was pretty special.

She ended up being a lunatic if I recall correctly. But I suppose nobody is here to judge character flaws.

Damn…I’m so sorry. It’s one thing to lose a beloved pet. But to lose one suddenly is an extra kick in the gut. So sorry.
I recall reading that one of the big differences is that orthodontics is a relatively American enterprise. Sure it’s available all over, but most societies outside the US don’t slap braces on their kids when they are 12 years old as a standard practice. Think about the number of kids you knew who had braces when you were young. It seemed like most of the kids I knew had braces at some point - and that was 35 years ago. Most of my son’s friends have had them as well. Very few “perfect” teeth naturally, it seems.
My grannie had the 1983 - 1986 Wishbooks saved for me and my brothers to peruse whenever we came over and stayed with her and my paw paw. I had the action figure and sports stuff pages basically memorized.

Such profound memories.
