We have this thread every year

Went to lsu a while ago but my senior year the parking was such a disaster. Sounds like they have no problem still treating students like shite. Then after you graduate they beg you for money. Sorry assholes. Doesn’t work that way.

I’ve never seen regular school traffic like this. How much did they up enrollment? It’s like Gameday traffic right now.
I’m hoping it’s just first week adjustments. Can’t possibly be the May St. closure making it this bad? Every side street leading to Highland is backed up. Doesn’t help that there are zero left turn signals and students don’t use the crosswalks correctly which is interfering with right turns.

This is a manufactured crisis.
LSU Parking ultimately wants students to park out in the hayfield and take shuttles to campus.
Those lots require no pass.
When I was a student 04-08, I parked pretty far out and rode my bike to class.
I see a lot of e-bikes and scooters around campus these days.

LSU took it when I couldn’t afford it now they ain’t getting it when I can.
Except for required football season ticket “donations” as I am an athletic supporter.

Flagship !
Outside of sports, the allure of LSU is fading quickly.

LSU oversold parking passes,
Hold up….you think a parking pass guarantees you a spot?

Funny, my daughter said parking has been much easier than she anticipated.

For the record, they did not oversell parking passes.
Every single student driving to campus has to have a parking pass.
That does not mean you get a parking spot.

The lots this morning are full of circling cars and kids following people walking in the lots hoping they are leaving to find a spot.
That’s absolutely not new at all. I was saving parking tickets to put on my windshield when I had to park in the wrong spot in a pinch 20 years ago.

I used a credit card (any magnetic strip) to open the faculty lot gate. They finally caught on and/or just upgraded the system. This was 30 years ago. Suckers.

We are talking about LSU and commuter undergrads. Of course they are treated like shite.
Again, good life lesson. Your employer is probably going to treat you like shite as well, even if you are self employed.

It's always been bad, it was like that in 2011 too. I'm sure building dorms in commuter lots hasn't helped but what can you do? You could build more garages but you would have to jack up parking fees to finance it.
I always biked or rode the bus. I had to commute from Cecilia for one semester to save money and hated it. LSU isn't a commuter school and will never be in the future.

Nothing to do with your post, but in general with how crowded places are I would never bank on being able to park anywhere. Concert, game, fair, etc. I just assume there is no parking and Uber/cycle.
A lot of you are going to have to accept this in the coming decades. Either get to your destination hours early, or don't drive.
Once you get accustomed to not driving you realize how much more freeing it is. It's a pain in the arse to deal with traffic to get somewhere, find parking, worry about your car being broken into, be able to get out of a crowded lot.
Not worth it. Just ride a bike.

I still remember walking to campus on an overcast November day, listening to Guns n Roses "November Rain." And then it started to rain. Magical.

Same except as I wasn't quite as slick. Had a small 4WD pickup and just jumped the curb. Did it for like 3 semesters before they caught me and ticketed me.

WRONG
Neither of my sons could get or have a parking pass. They were told they are sold out or oversold and they have no more. Said some may come available through attritrion and keep checking back.

Of course they "oversell." When they sell parking passes, they don't assume that every student who bought one will be on campus at the same time. They don't have a reserved spot for everyone who bought a parking pass.
