They’re admitting anyone and everyone nowadays. It’s fricking disgusting.

BS. When I went to LSU you needed to have a Social Security Number, a HS Degree, and you had to take Physics in HS. Basically they took anyone with a pulse and it was fine.

Something else fricked it up.

It appears Tate protected himself by staying quiet and staying out of athletics

Apparently, Tate wasn’t doing his job and was asked to leave. No more DEI Presidents at LSU.

This isn’t uncommon for universities. My son started at TCU this week. Freshmen are required to live on campus

I understand all of this but you missed the part where I said he is a returning junior. When I was at LSU, upper classmen had some priorities for certain things like class registration, parking, etc. Guess those days are gone.

Not sure. But I think they bank on a lot of locals getting a housing exemption and staying at home.

But students sign up in advance and get approved for housing. They basically sign up that they want housing, then when LSU approves it they assign them a room. How do you run out of rooms and have students in temp housing if they were assigned in advance?

Tell them not to worry. Jeff Landry will house them at the governors mansion.

and something very simple like a 19 on your ACT. There's a huge difference in what is needed to get into LSU today and 20+ years ago.
There were plenty of kids from my catholic high school that couldn't get in to LSU and went to BRCC for a year before either flunking out or getting into LSU.

State universities are just for profit corporations disguised as an institution of higher learning.

They didn’t run out of passes, they continue to build new campus structures on existing parking lots without building new parking lots.

They have some BS ride program where you park miles away and some shuttle brings you to campus, but the shuttle is never on time and you’re always late for class.

Idk.
I really don’t. She likes ole Miss and La tech too.

This is my cousins kid third year at LSU.
He told me he thought he was at southern when they moved in him couple years ago.

Actually, there is a lot that can be done. If Ion contracted with the university, then Ion is getting paid. Not to have the rooms ready is unacceptable and someone should lose their job. It should at a minimum be clean on move in day. It is 100% on LSU Housing to inspect the Ion before move in day and make sure it isn't a shite hole.

Yeah my son (returning Junior) just found out they ran out of parking passes?!?! WTF???
My oldest has toured a handful out of state schools over the past year or so. I was surprised at how many of them don’t allow freshmen to have a car on campus because of limited parking, despite requiring incoming freshmen to live on campus.

I think The Standard was new and expensive when my daughter attended LSU. College housing is a joke in general. I wonder what off housing rental is now. It was like $700 or more per room in an off campus apt. in 2016. Forget where she stayed, it was decent.

170 is a problem when you're one of the 170.

No one is saying it doesn’t suck. But outside of building dorms, which the school is doing and has been doing for years, I’m not sure what it is you want them to do. I already said they shouldn’t have admitted more than they could house. 170 out of the 7,500-8,000 isn’t an insane amount of students without a dorm slot. I’m guessing the 170 comprise of people who didn’t make their decision until the last minute as well.

This. With the volume of students LSU houses, it’s virtually impossible to get a final count. You have people who don’t show up. You have people who show up not knowing they had to sign up for housing (after all, they’re admitting some who are def not the best and the brightest)…and every conceivable scenario in between. Lots of other logistics that I’m sure we don’t know about. 170 sounds a little high, though.

Why, specifically did he think he was at Southern?

And why would that matter to him?
