Sounds like it'll be a pain having to get every event approved by the university. It sucks that a few bad apples had to ruin it for the rest of the greek community

Not like it was back in the day

Most of those rules don't seem too onerous, and some of them are common sense. but the devil is in the details. As far as moving tailgates back to the houses, that's where they used to be. They bitched and moving them to the Parade Ground, and now they're bitching about moving them back.

Do they not walk to the stadium, which is clear across campus? They are all young, they can walk a little.

Care to elaborate for some of the younger folks who wouldn't remember this?
We would have pre-game parties at the fraternity house. Always music and sometimes bands.

Pledges took turns maning the bar. The other ones would have to go save seats in the stadium.

Everybody got their flasks or Seal-A-Mean pouches ready and we strolled with our dates to the stadium in a nice cocktail walk, as a group

When assigned club section seating started, the pledges quit having to go early.

Later university regs on alcohol in the houses drove fraternities to the parade grounds but we always preferred the houses and there was less likelihood of fights with other fraternities or outsiders.

Looks like I have a new tailgating spot!

frick y'all for that. For 5 years I had to leave tailgates early to save seats for our group I would've killed for ungrouped students to be able to put in for grouped seating like that.

We had ironing boards and irons manned by pledges in one room where you took your liquor to be heat sealed into pouches. The next room over was for the dates to go in and duct tape the pouches to their inner thigh. Security wasn’t allowed to pat the girls down there so it was a fool proof method to get booze in the stadium.

The group walks were a blast. Huge group with dates and we always ended up with a self appointed walk master who would lead and call out regular drink stops where everyone would do a shot or two.

This I agree with, but am surprised ABC is willing to forgo some cash to save lives.

-Eliminating alcohol for all new member education events, which is typically the time hazing occurs.
-Eliminating hard alcohol and single source alcohol, like kegs and punches, at fraternity houses.
-Requiring a fraternity board

None of that is new

Problem with this now is you are basically telling someone that if you are in a fraternity, you are required to stay at your house on game day.

No...you are saying if you want to set up and serve alcohol to young kids, do it at your house BEFORE you go to campus. Frats and sororities are design to forge relationships and such...that should happen there. This move is also designed to put liability on them.....if an underaged girl gets passed out drunk and raped, and she was given the alcohol at a KA house...then presto, it's on them

Now, it's not a hard workaround for someone else to say up a tailgate and the frat house announce..."let's all meet at "John does" setup.

Look man, it is what it is, and changes are needed. Obviously, frats can't police themselves and gross behavior is now cheered instead of frowned upon. Yeah, we all got drunk and had sex as college kids...but now, technology has arrived and all this shite that goes on is captured and on social media in seconds reaching millions....LSU has to protect itself now, and this is what's going on.

It won't be a huge change....you kids will easily adapt.

And for the poster saying "it's a long walk"....lol. we are talking college kids here, I'm positive they will survive.lol

Most of those aren’t overly unreasonable, but that last one is entirely a bridge too far.

This is funny, because all tailgates used to be at the house until LSU made them stop.

I was wondering when people would catch the irony. The parade grounds didn’t really get packed until my 2 year or so because everyone was scared of MIPS. They then started treating it as a “if you stay in this area you are fine, walk out with a drink your fricked” then it turned into the in field at dega

It really wasn’t that long ago that the parade grounds were almost empty besides the tree line. Now LSU acts like it is prime tailgating

but, most of the problems on the parade ground are from un invited people crashing fraternity set ups at PG....

Fraternity GPA is once again higher than non-Greek men.
It better be considering frats get old tests and assignments. Back when I was in college there was a library in one of the houses full of past exams and work.

Or, and just hear me out here, and this is coming from a GDI:

18 year olds should know not to chug hard liquor and say "frick off" if someone tells him to.

Don't blame the Greek system for these dudes doing stupid shite.

How dare you bring logic into this situation!
