but, most of the problems on the parade ground are from un invited people crashing fraternity set ups at PG....
It is a classic case of unintended consequences due to half assed regulations.
They created rules that house parties most have a third party vendor and security , affectively kicking tailgates out of the house because all that be too expensive for a 8 hour tailgate. It worked well until everyone came togeather on the parade grounds like a school of fish. Now instead of all the frats out of sight in their houses, they have all of them trying to one up each other and try to make oldrows instagram.
Then you have a mess on your hands because they all know joe prisoner is just going to pick up after them instead of them fricking up their own space.
In a few seasons they well adapt a new way and then the university will just shut that down. It’s basically the drug war, frats are the barksdale crew and LSU is ruals.

Wife and I went to LSU. I have 2 daughters there now.
I have encouraged my son to go elsewhere. He agrees and will.
F*ck LSU's current administration. They're nuts.

These frat losers brought it upon themselves. If I had a son at LSU I would not want him in a fraternity. Too many idiots, not enough common sense.

Not anymore Blutarski.

Does LSU allow single/common source alcohol (kegs, etc.) at fraternities?
That's been banned at some other SEC schools for decades.

I would like to believe a son of mine could find a group that liked to have fun without absolutely losing their minds, but it does seem like a substantial number of that demographic doesn't understand the concept of moderation and takes anything to the extreme. Get a little buzzed and sleep it off vs drink yourself into a coma. Smoke a little weed vs OD on opiods. There's a difference. It gives an opening for the administration, which doesn't like Greeks at all, to try to eliminate them. That's some valuable real estate along Dalrymple and Lakeshore, and the University has long term ideas for it that don't involve Greek Letters.
Maybe it's a guy thing. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure there are girls with substance abuse problems, but you don't hear about them dying of it, at least not as often.

Okay

I don't particularly care for frats, but this is fricking stupid.
What? That is probably the best idea on there. Idk how they would enforce it, but its a good idea. I think the frats themselves would even like to go back to their houses, it was LSU that stopped it from happening. It would be better for all non-greeks too. It sucks tailgating next to them. I'm in my early 20s, but they even make me feel like an old man. They blare music way louder than necessary and they trash the ground they tailgate on.

this is objectively a good idea

-Eliminating alcohol for all new member education events, which is typically the time hazing occurs.
-Eliminating hard alcohol and single source alcohol, like kegs and punches, at fraternity houses.
these are ridiculious
the rest are meh

at LSU we had kegs at the law school fairly regularly

So "tailgates" at houses must have hired security and third party vendors who only serve can beer (at a profit for the vendor)? Yea that'll work...
If I was still in I'd just suggest we set up over by Nicholson Extension and kick some olds out of their spot. I truly don't understand how the University can tell any group where they can or cannot tailgate.

When they were talking about changing the tailgating rules a few years ago and had that big open forum one of the things they absolutely had no answer on was what if you have a non greek tailgate aka a bunch of guys and girls with no formal affiliation but some greek friends show up? Is your tailgate suddenly under the rules for the greeks? They're trying to police something that really can't be policed and its only going to end up hampering the experience for a lot of people who are completely unrelated to it.

Demographics should be off limits, because as you said, that's the beginning of the "look how racist these white fraternities are", while ignoring the all-black fraternities and sororities.
You are saying they aren't racist for remaining segregated,? It is 2018, not 1965, whether black or white a segregated Greek system should not exist on a college campus. If they want to remain that way they need to be moved off campus to private property.

Good Lord. Five pages in and I've still got to do this for you?

Neither are forcefully segregated. Both have members of other races. The two councils are not compatible, though. They can't be combined. The cultures are way too different. Anyone who has been in either IFC or NPHC will say the same thing.

All they really had to do was just start policing the parade grounds heavily for MIPs. Most actives are underage but the police don’t have time and likely really don’t give a shite.

I'm as Back the Blue as they get, but the fricking undercover ABC dickheads dishing out MIPs to 18 year olds can get hit by a bus. I can't imagine my entire job to be ticketing 18 year olds for drinking alcohol.

They really are the worst, I am baby faced so I got stopped well into my mid 20s. Even at 27 I still get carded everywhere, I got carded a wedding I was in.
They love to make a show of it, I get off on the disappointing look when they ask for my credit card or second ID. “This doesn’t look like you I need to confirm”

If they ever did this to me with a valid ID, I'd refuse and make in more trouble than it was worth for them. You did your duty and provided what they needed. I'd just be difficult from that point forward.
