Do what is the most pragmatic for your career. Cheer for LSU as a fan. 90% of the fanbase couldn’t find Baton Rouge on a map.

To the OP's question most likely no.
The school, ethos, and town are not what I experienced.
Someone should do a survey of this very question. Would love to see how we compare to other schools.

To give a better answer than “No, LSU is woke.”
1. LSU has a great Masters of Accountancy program. I took it. Dr. Laura Wiley Is a large part of the program and she created one of the most widely used CPA study programs. Grads of the program can get a job with any Big 4 they want, or easily do work for some local firm.
2. All big state colleges are woke. Anyone who disagrees is lying.
3. It’s one year. If you have always wanted to be “more” of a Tiger then take a year and become one. Go to class during the week and take advantage of what Louisiana has to offer on the weekends.
It’s sounds like you really want to go. Don’t let some anonymous posters on the internet discourage you because some administrators that you will never even meet are woke. The same professors who have been teaching there for the past 15-20 years will be the only non students you ever interact with.

I love lsu, love being part of the family but I’ve got some issues with the systems future leadership and it’s not Tate, while I would’ve preferred someone else he’s qualified and smart but the kingmakers that took over the board before his hiring are worrisome IMO

No. I am an alum and have told my children I don't want them going to school anywhere in Louisiana - especially anywhere in BR or NO.
I love watching LSU in athletics but the university is shite and trending downward. The BoS here is woefully inept, most of whom do not have LSU degrees (and one whom I'm pretty sure never even went to college...) Plus Baton Rouge is a horrible city.
Do not send your kids to LSU.
I'd suggest you just move the hell on then & support anyone BUT LSU.

If you can just go to school and ignore the bull shite, then sure
That may actually be possible as a grad student
My masters is from lsu, my oldest is there right now - it’s a weird place - it’s very, very woke when it comes to students earning grades and how much work is done

I think LSU is a very good institution.
By what standard exactly? Being good at sports or being from Louisiana don’t count.
Most college degrees are just pieces of paper these days, and for the most part nobody gives a shite where that piece of paper comes from. The best answer is what someone else said, pick the place with the cheapest piece of paper.

La Tech may have started a LGBTQRSTUV center on the 2nd floor of some building, but that shite will never catch on in Ruston, La.
They probably had to do it to keep some sort of public funding.
My wife, myself, brother, brother-in-law, and sister-in-laws all went to LSU back in the 90’s and my kids will never go there.

Yes. I earned a great education at LSU. I mean what are the other options? The other state schools in Louisiana? Paying way too much and getting the same or lesser education at Tulane?

Can you get into IU? It's a much better program and you'd pay in-state. You can still wear purple and gold on Saturdays and no one will gaf.

How is it trending downward specifically, aside from being in a high crime area?

My wife and I both are alumni. Daughter is a freshman and son will be there next year. Most colleges are woke, as is most of the whole education experience. I hate that crap just as much as anyone. However, you can get past most of it and it's not even a majority of the professors. My daughter has only had 1 professor this year do the whole pronoun, alphabet people speech at the beginning of the semester.
LSU is still the flagship university of this state. More good reasons to go than not. Definitely better than LA Tech or whatever other LA college people are pushing in this thread. Tate does push the DEI propaganda but he's not teaching any classes. As a few others have posted, at the end of the day, no one cares if you know your stuff and have a good head on your shoulders.

Don't pay out of state tuition for a mediocre university just because you like their sports teams.

Exactly. Having some safe space for LGBTQ+ =/= mandatory DEI classes and lighting up Tiger Stadium in George Floyd's HS colors.

South Baton Rouge is fine. North BR is ghetto. South BR is the 2nd and 3rd richest zip codes in the state. Most people that don’t live around BR are dumb and think it is 100% hood rat. It is only 50% hood rat.

Local companies tend to have deals with local campuses for recruiting. If you don’t want to live in Louisiana the rest of your life, I’d recommend going elsewhere.
In short, I’d recommend going elsewhere.

Strongly encouraged my oldest to attend elsewhere. Start their adult life in a state that offers a future.
