As someone who goes to Louisville every year for Louder Than Life, it’s boring. There’s no nightlife and the local restaurants are ok. Wild Eggs is a great brunch place. Unless you go to the derby specifically or wanna see the Muhammad Ali museum and his grave, it’s nothing special.

I usually stay in Hillview/Shepherdsville when visiting.

I love the Derby. It’s the pinnacle of horse racing and expensive sweet bourbon drinks.

People love to shite on Nola and Mardi Gras. I get it.

At least we have enough hotels for the fans. And we don’t have the meth heads driving fake Ubers. Louisville is awful.

Had a blast in Louisville a couple years ago doing the bourbon trail and then hitting numerous breweries. Surprisingly affordable too.

I'd long heard this, but then I finally went and stayed there for a few days back in 2024 and I was underwhelmed by its shittiness. It did feel kind of dated, somehow. It's the kind of town where you might find the last remaining Rax in existence or whatever, and it looks like miles and miles of downtown Hattiesburg (or lots of other places), but it generally seemed like a clean, friendly city. I'd expected something more like Dothan City or even Tallahassee.

I spent the weekend there a few years ago with one of my childhood friends who moved there. Seemed okay.
I had fun seeing the Louisville Cards basketball "museum" thingy in the Yum Center and needling him over their 2013 trophy being gone.

LoserVille is not Cleveland or Detroit

Gary, Indiana is the ghetto of Chicago, was probably nice a century or two ago before the became part of Chicago

Sad to hear Evansville has gone downhill. The Petroleum Club was the cats meow back in the day.

You have BR and Nola. Louisville, while still having bad areas, isnt remotely as bad.

The horse tracks and horse business is full of crooks, criminals and drugs.

Government policy over a long time frame has built shithole cities. Partially deliberate and partially by accident. Either way it's directed us into a societal collapse. Until accountability and responsibility makes it way back it will only continue to gain negative momentum.

My buddy’s son just graduated from Louisville last year. In January, the son was getting gas to go pick up his friends from a bar and he was shot in the throat. He survived but is paralyzed from the neck down.

It’s a dump.

I don't particularly care for Louisville, but I'm a Lexington guy. There's stuff to do in Louisville for sure, a lot of nonsense ITT TBH. But I'm not gonna come in here and defend their city, I don't care.

To the comment about the rich horse women in Lexington not being attractive, yeah, I can't disagree. I've never understood it either. We have A LOT of beautiful women here in Lexington, but for some reason the wives of big money horse guys.....not hot. You're not wrong.
