Are they shooting people? No. Are they out of control, tons of fights, annoying as hell, and leave an absolute mess? Yes

Is there that much of a demand for this?

I see some corporate tailgates, but not that many.

There most certainly is. Go by the engineering building on gameday. It's tons of corporate Revelry tents.

WHY? What does it matter? What's wrong with them being closer to the Stadium on the parade grounds?. Be specific...

I tend to agree. If anyone is able to set up a tailgate mostly wherever, why should the flats not be allowed to do the same? In the same breath, if they want to hold their pregame at the house, why not?

Unless things have changed, I believe the frats leave that area looking like a tornado hit it.

That is reason enough.

As an old person, I was very confused the first time I heard about fraternity tailgates. We either took dates to dinner or hung out at the house until time to walk.

Still the case. And I've waded into this debate before, but just cleaning up after would probably kill this whole debate.

But for some reason, fighting the "resistance" is somehow more important. But they're going to ultimately lose.

Tailgating on the parade grounds might be considered bait for undesirable elements.

If so, this is like banning yoga pants and mini skirts to prevent rape.

Unless things have changed, you can say the same about any area that hosts tailgates.

I recall through early 2000s, every house would have an after game party. Over a series of years, the admins made it progressively harder to have events on campus. Security requirements, catering requirements, sign off and approval, all got harder. This is why bid night and exchanges are now mostly off campus now. Tailgates were a relief valve for this. If there was no after party, go tailgate. They used to be scattered, some at houses, some around campus, but the groups eventually settled into the parade ground. Now you have what you have and everyone is trying to unwind it to get back to what was. I'm not sure the students want to go back to their houses. I guess we will see.

Greeks would probably love this. They are not the problem, but if it means parties back at their houses they will be better off.

And probably a great excuse to let the frats party in their own houses in the name of campus safety. LSU admin makes everything so dang difficult. Frats had pre and post game parties in their houses for ever and ever, but nope. Can't be having any fun.
