It really is. And its not like it doesnt get hot as frick in the summer either. you legit get it all here
My climate professor in college always thought Nebraska/Kansas weather was the most fascinating because of how volatile the seasons were. With not enough large bodies of water, flat topography/no mountains, most of the Great Plains « borrows » climates. So we typically get the Gulf/Texas winds in the summer which brings heat that is amplified by the humidity driven by being Ag economies. Then during winter, we get the Arctic air.
Quite frequently, the fronts will flip and collide, resulting in the extreme storms

But not the number of "hate crimes"

White people are more comfortable in the colder temperatures, turning Chicago into MAGA Country when it gets colder.

I feel like it's getting close to time for me to do a hurricane thread style deep dive, but I'm also feeling very lazy.
As I've been saying for a few days now, there are going to be lows running along the temperature gradient as this arctic front pushes down. The problem for Louisiana is it has to start fighting into the ridge that sits off the SE United States.
So will the cold air end up splitting with a lobe into yankeeland and a western lobe to eventually swing down. No matter what, disturbances running out of southern Texas and NE is going to be a thing as the cold air hangs out in the middle of the country for days.
My thought is south Louisiana gets cold, but not the stupid cold showing up in some of the models and probably misses the ice and snow with the mid-south into the Tennessee and Ohio valleys getting it instead. Very uncertain though, as shallow cold tends to be underdone by models in both progression and just how cold it'll get.
The GEFS is still pretty aggressive for south Louisiana, with Baton Rouge getting snow with 17/30 members and the ensemble mean actually being an inch of snow. The EPS isn't quite so, with just 9/50 having snow for Baton Rouge but that's also the highest number of members in a few days.

Dammit, am I going to freeze to death or not?
It's like these models keep ambiguously rubbing up against our thighs and teasing us, but refuse to commit to going closer to the the crotch and making their intentions clear.

We have a 40+ page thread going. It has to do some type of bad weather.
It's a statistical impossibility to not

The Midwest of America receives the most diverse and dangerous weather as a region than any other place on the planet. Yet, it feeds the world like no other region.

Am confident it will appear where I reside....typical back end of Winter for us. No if but how much and when.
We had very light, powdery snow this morning and expect more this upcoming Sunday and Monday...along with the nasty cold air.

How you feeling about temps and potential ice for the MS delta area particularly around the HWY 82 corridor

This is when I hate having old cars. The Model A's run cooler on straight water so I have to drain and add antifreeze when it gets below 20.
