you are in your home, still have power, and you're doing every day things like making coffee, cooking, washing your hands, flushing toilets, etc. you don't really need to drip your faucets during the day. At night you need to, but that is because the water is not moving.

If you aren’t dripping your faucets in NOLA during hard freeze that is a special kind of deliberate and willful stupidity.

Anyone have any idea why I saw some brown water this morning? Almost like dirty , from looking online it looks like maybe it’s sediment. I have well water as well. Is that a cause for concern?

If you dripped your faucets last night, you likely had some air get in the pipes. When that happens, it can stir up sediment and flush it out when you open the water up full force. You may check the screens/filter on your faucets out of an abundance of caution, but if the brown color went away and only happened when you opened the faucets back up, you should be okay.

You understand that all the things I mentioned, cooking, washing hands, flushing toilets, showering, etc. is better than just dripping a faucet all day, right? You know that, correct?

If you are not going to be home and/or your power is off, sure... drip them all day. Otherwise, there isn't a real need.

so, i'm guessing it isn't getting up to 40 in the Baton Rouge area today? Or, are they just gonna keep pushing back that 40 degree window hour after hour hoping they're right?

The high on the northshore today says 43... it’s 1:30 and it’s still in the 20s

Looks like more snow coming the next couple days for northern parts of the state will add to the accumulation

Yes, you're right. I have power. However, I don't drink coffee, haven't done any cooking or laundry yet today. I have pissed a couple of times.
Out of an abundance of caution, I'll drip the faucet!

Thankful for power — only out since 7 this am but now I can have coffee.

Hope the linemen can warm up and not get called back out.

I’m south of lafayette and we heard on the radio at noon that the companies around here anyway had called thenrolling black outs off.

I’d report the outage in case that’s not it.

Ice starting to melt here. Without sun though not sure it will do a lot of good since it’s not going to evaporate much before it goes back below freezing.
