Ice starting to melt here. Without sun though not sure it will do a lot of good since it’s not going to evaporate much before it goes back below freezing.

i have ice melting from my roof, falling to the ground, then turning back to ice on the ground.

Are we going to get any freezing precip out of this next system here in BR? It is not "warming up" like they expected, and tomorrow calls for 100 percent chance of rain, and low of "35".

What’s the word on highway 90 or I-10?

I have to get to New Orleans tomorrow from Lafayette, but I’m not even sure if it’s possible (or smart?)

I don’t think people were expecting snow this morning in BR. I didn’t check the weather gurus last night to see if anything changed. Just checked weather and now it’s not supposed to get above freezing at all today.

Im just jumping in and was wondering what is the major reason for the loss of electricity? Has anyone projected when electricity will be restored? I just remember the ice storm in the MS delta, from ice. Guess I'm Just concerned with the low temps. Thanks!

I was very vigilant about my pipes in and outside. Turns out one spigot on the outside that was wrapped is frozen now. Should I put a hair dryer on it or what?

It's really neat how you can see all the snow and ice covered river flood plains and farmland. The Mississippi Delta is perfectly defined.

The offshoot to the left must be the red river?

so, i'm guessing it isn't getting up to 40 in the Baton Rouge area today? Or, are they just gonna keep pushing back that 40 degree window hour after hour hoping they're right?

Weather forecasters being wrong? Never happens. Just ask them and be prepared for their defensiveness when they are wrong.

There's not a person or computer on earth that could have predicted that one random patch of clouds running from Baton Rouge to Meridian keeping the temperature down when the rest of the south is clear.

It's 36 in Slidell and 31 in Lafayette in the sun but 26 in Baton Rouge under the clouds.

I know someone trying to get from Lafayette to Houma on 90 this evening. From what I see on 511la.org, it looks okay. Might take you longer than I-10, but it is an alternate. I will try to update once I know if they had any issues.

The thing is, it was wrapped in this 3M bag product. Got to 20 degrees last night so I'm not in the really bad areas.

I suppose it will refreeze tonight, rigjt? Should I just let it open slightly all night?

No, dry. I didn't put them on until the precipitation moved out yesterday. It was about 33 degrees at that time. I ran water all over the house periodically all night. Every faucet, tub, toilet every two hours. Jist not that outside spigot. The other spigots were wrapped same way and all work fine.

Ok, it just started flowing. I think the blockage was in the 4-5 inches outside of the brick wall.
