I have a buddy who is Vietnamese who grew up in Nebraska. He and his family came over after the war. He told me there was a big Vietnamese settlement in Nebraska. This map confirms that. Guess it's the farming Vietnamese and not the fishermen Vietnamese.

Guy I worked with told me about his family and their move over. His mom and dad were sent to the Midwest and his dad was out to work building houses.
He hated it and saved some money and came down here to be with other family and shrimp/fish.

My friend is a Sr Engineer. His wife(Vietnamese) is a physical therapist. His two sisters are doctors.

I live near a family of Hondurans. Only the younger child is legal. The daughter was brought here at six months. Graduated HS second in her class and just got her degree from LSU. They have the most upgraded house on the block. The mom sends us authentic Hondurans dishes every holiday.

Quality people. I'd trade half of the OT for them to be legal.

All I know is there are no Hispanics in the Home Depot parking lot in BR these days
they all disappeared from ours. But the last month or two they started creeping back. Went yesterday morning and it was back to a full on illegal labor market.

What I noticed that’s changed is that there aren’t as many beater trucks with advertisements for services on the sides. A lot of the Migos are almost all like lone wolves standing by their truck alone instead of them all grouped up. Also the waving and stopping people asking if they need any cheap labor has stopped.

But theyz back

Enchiladas and Tamales ftmfw.

Had a tamale rolling party over the holidays and flew home with some. My aunt made enchiladas twice.

My Honduran family has been in New Orleans since 1965 and came the right way. Several family members joined the service, including my mother at 18.

My wife’s mom is Honduran and her dad is Nicaraguan. I couldn’t ask for better in-laws and her family loves this blonde hair, blue eyed gringo. Dad worked his arse off and retired at 62.

This hilariously accurate. Visited some family in Metairie recently and sister-in-laws brother is with a woman who has a couple of kids from a Honduran lol

Bull. shite. They came for money and benefits. Hurricane Mitch (1998) granted a ton of them TPS, which still was in effect until 2025.

While you may like them personally, they're no different than any other illegal; drop anchor babies, profit. New Orleans metro has more Hondurans than any place on Earth besides Honduras.
