So you’re bitching about a test that she had to take either way? Nice

No.

She already took a test. LA won't honor that test. So she now has to take a second test.

I would probably feel sorry for you if I hadn't had to take another bar exam when I moved back to Louisiana from North Carolina.

Sucks for you.

My CPA license transfered from Texas to Louisiana with paperwork. Didn't have to retake the CPA exam.

My mother is a nurse and has lived in 3 different states the last 20 years and has to take a certification test in all of them...and that’s actually a test people couldn’t pass armed only with common sense.

Wife had a similar situation. Graduated from LSU, got her teaching certification in Florida, taught in GA, back in LA, but they would not accept her license.

That’s odd. I never had to retake theNCLEX when I moved out of LA as a travel nurse. Once you pass NCLEX (nursing boards)....you never have to retake them to remain a registered nurse.

Your mom must have fricked up somehow.

ETA: unless you are confused and mean she had to retake a test for certification to her nursing specialty (pediatrics, OR, trauma, oncology, etc). Some of those certifications require retesting every so many years.

The test cost $425
that's like an entire paycheck for a teacher in LA

According to the OT, teachers are overpaid, though.

Is her certificate supposed to be reciprocal with Louisiana? I do agree that Louisiana has way too many requirements for many things.

No, but you could be the superintendent of a school district in Tx with 30 years experience and La would treat you like a kid fresh out of college with no ed experience. No shite, they wanted a friend of mine to go through student teaching and he had 12 years in the Ga school system.

I overheard two teachers yesterday in Baton Rouge plotting all kinds of nefarious administrative activities to get one of them a job. One of them even suggested it is all about who you blow!

The test includes a great deal of law, which would be different by state. Also, depending on her route she may be required to do intern hours which TX does not require.

Well, since the educational system in just about all of the other states is superior to that in Louisiana, the idiots in Baton rouge should be happy. But, then again they are products of Louisiana schools

The reason is simple, you have to go through a dumbing down process in order to even be at the level of most of the teachers and students in Louisiana

Soooooooo a person with 20+ years would have to go back and work for free for about a year and then fork over additional monies for a test to the bureaucracy?
