Louisiana reciprocates with the 35 states that use Praxis tests. Texas has it's own test. If a teacher goes from LA to TX, they have to pass the Texas Test.

In Louisiana, teachers can now teach or be a Principal for 3 years with an out of state license giving them time to take and pass the appropriate tests.

The test includes a great deal of law, which would be different by state.

My understanding is that the LA test is not a state-specific test.

Might as well post them now. They'll eventually show up in the "Another Teacher..." thread.

Louisiana believes the education system in place is far superior to those other smaller states

She meets all the requirements, except one... she has to take another qualification test... LA won't honor the Texas one. The test cost $425 plus study materials.

Well if she's as sharp as you say she is, test should be a piece of cake for her...podnuh

Right.

Paying $425 and investing time for something she already did, is stupid.

Especially since, let's be honest, Texas schools and standards > LA schools and standards

No, but you could be the superintendent of a school district in Tx with 30 years experience and La would treat you like a kid fresh out of college with no ed experience. No shite, they wanted a friend of mine to go through student teaching and he had 12 years in the Ga school system.

Why my mom stayed in GA until she retired. If she had moved back here, even though she graduated from LSU and had originally got her certificate here back in the 80s. It would have been like starting over again for her.

Moral of the story: Louisiana education system sucks and is full of bureaucratic crap.

I mean my parents are teachers and I feel bad for them when it comes to putting up with kids that suck because their parents are worthless...

but this situation is TEACHERS' fault. The state isn't randomly saying "you know, we should create some special certificate for X position." It's the professional organizations that are trying to protect their own jobs by putting hoops in place that people have to jump through. The LAE could have the state legislator get rid of that certificate or allow reciprocity. But administrators don't want that.

So she got a certification in a different jurisdiction (Texas) than the one she is currently (Louisiana) trying to use said certification in, WITHOUT checking in advance to see whether reciprocity was honored or not, and she's mad that they don't offer reciprocity?

Sounds like a teacher not doing their homework!

So step in, tell her she’s being selfish, and that Texas is better for both of you and any family you want to raise.

Yeah really if they have children in private school. Paying state income tax, small property tax, high car and house insurance, and then having to pay for private school. Yikes
