If you update those number to today, it's around 6,704 Active, 5,394 of those in public

31,815 active cases
2,242 deaths
22,608 (recovered as of 5/10)

6,965 Active cases based on data provided. Enter assumptions

Recovered data is 1 day old. 14 days from 5/10 is 4/26. New cases: 4/26 = 261

6,704 Active cases
1,310 in Hospitals
5,394 Conservative estimate of cases not in hospitals

Obligatory: The 14 day guidelines are given by ldh and based on when the patient tests positive. The information that we have readily available is when the positive test result is known, not when the test was administered. In addition, the date of the onset of symptoms does not matter either.

To give a range: If you add the new cases from 4/28 through 5/11 (14 days), you get 4,750 cases. 7,290 cases from 4/21 through 5/11 (21 days)

"As you can see, we've got a clear spike in cases and deaths from yesterday, so easing restrictions wouldn't be prudent at this time"

Screw JBE. I’m sitting on the beach in perdido having drinks and have a haircut scheduled for Wednesday. Cheating on my regular girl but at this point who the f cares.

He’s an asshat.

just ran some percentages...

Percent of positive cases of those tested: 14.4%

Percent deaths of those tested: .059%

Percent deaths of positive cases: 7.0%

IMO the death percentage of positive cases will continue to drop...

I personally dislike these graphs because they try to show that the rates of infection have decreased in certain areas but those rates are damn near negligible. Region 6 is not bad but that graph makes it appear otherwise. Region 8 really isn’t that bad either if you subtract prisons and nursing homes.

Goddammit region 6

really should check the Y-axis

region 6's peak on the Y-axis is ~20

unlike other regions where it's in the hundreds

the new spike in region 6 is b/c the number of cases in said region are already so small that really any positive will cause a bump

I understand that but the optics are bad which JBE will use to justify the extension.

People in this state are stupid and don’t think like you and I.

Don't look at the line look at the scale. Region 6 has plateaued somewhere between 15-20. In a region that has a population of 300k that is nothing.

Population by region.

1 895188
2 681481
3 398310
4 605571
5 304520
6 300597
7 536761
8 349251
9 588299

Agreed. I put these together on May 1 when JBE lied about the progress of the state by region, and changed the requirements for Phase 1 to all regions when we hit Phase 1 as a state. I just continued to update by day to show progress. I could change the scale to all be 0-200 but you wouldn't even be able to make sense of them.

Ferriday & Jena are the only 2 in region 6

Not sure about jails

Yep, those most susceptible to death have likely already died.

The graphs help tell a story based on the information that we have at hand. However, they do not tell the full story. Useful information would be total cases as of the date symptoms begun. They have that information on a chart on ldh's website; however, you can no longer see the actual data by date.

The data at hand gives the same weight of someone that received same day turnaround on the first day symptoms started as someone that had to wait a week to get their test in early April because those were the procedures and that lab finally turned the results over. But, it is the only information the public is privy to.
