The recored is official. An incredible 29.06 inches of rain fell in less than 12 hours. As you can see in this image, this wasn't even at the center of the heavy rain bullseye, but we don't have a ton of data in more rural areas like that. I'd say this qualifies as record shattering in that we saw the old record broken by 7.06 inches, and in less than half a day. I mean, 7.06 inches of rain in under 12 hours will cause flooding, but when you add that to the all time record, you get it. This was an off the charts crazy event, and so many are still dealing with the after effects, as well as the continued rising water in parts of St. Landry Parish. Voluntary evacuations are still in place.
