I feel like the current system benefits the CP. I figured the rest of the Parish wanted to get away from BR.
What am I missing here?
Ditto. If another group attempted this I would expect cries of racism.

No no no.
Half of BR is still fine. Due in large part to the consolidated government.
St. George needs it’s neighbor to the north to not be any worse. Otherwise both end up failing.

That is true. I like having Old South Baton Rouge as a buffer.

If you own property in Livingston or Ascension, the election of Mayor President Sharon Weston Broome has been the single biggest positive catalyst for increasing your equity over that same timeframe.
I'd say the Flood but it helped EBR just as much as any other Parish in that regards within the 5-Parish Capitol/Metro Baton Rouge Region.

This. It amazes me that most on this board don’t realize that the success of St George, Central and Zachary is dependant on the success of Baton Rouge.
In my opinion the current administration wants St George to happen just as much if not more than the residents of St George. This will be the last domino to fall before everyone wants to break up city parish form of government. When this happens we will be conceding all of the power to Gravy and his ilk to implement whatever policies and property taxes they want. They will have control of the city of BR and possibly maintain control of the parish. If baffles me that conservatives in the parish think that this could possibly be a good scenario for the area.
We don’t need to break up the government to right the ship. We just need to actually care enough to show up to the polls and vote.

The NAACP leader says he thinks he has enough support for the item to land on next spring’s ballot.
“If you look at the 40,000 fans that would come to Southern’s football games and the 100,000 that would come to LSU’s football games, that’s 140,000 signatures right there,” McClanahan says. “We could’ve easily gotten it. And we’ll do it this time.”
Does he not realize that the majority of the people at LSU football games wouldn't be able to sign the petition because they don't live in EBR Parish? Then good luck with trying to convince the rest to actually sign some political petition unless you tell them its a "Recall SWB" petition.

White folks need to get out of the way and let Baton Ruudge reach it’s inevitable destiny without further delay.

40 k fans at a Southern game. Maybe the classic.
And from that maybe half can actually read and sign a petition.

If this is truly a concern (not sure it is), then the action to take would be to simply shrink the boundaries of EBR into just the city limits of Baton Rouge, and then take what is left of EBR and create a new parish out of it.
I imagine that takes state approval.

"Hey, you are in town from Mississippi for the game? Would you like to sign our petition to change our local government structure?"

Wonders never cease - I actually agree with the NAACP on something.

When wypipo agree with the NAACP, they're sure to reverse their stance, but then again, their balls are already hanging out and they'll never admit they made a bad move

They wouldn’t change the boundaries. They have won the last three parish wide elections.
So now the best case scenario is a Democrat Mayor of the city and a Republican Parish President. Worse case scenario is two Democrats working to appease the constituents of NBR.
Please explain how this could possibly be good for EBR?

It's already essentially 2 democrats trying to appease NBR.

But this can be fixed by showing up to the polls not taking your ball and going home. At parish level demographics still favor conservatives.
Break up the city/parish form of governments and a Republican won’t control Baton Rouge again.

It was pretty apparent from the people who spoke at the council meeting the other day that they want a city of black people run by black people.
No, i’m Not gonna lump all of the decent hard working black people into that mess.
The goobernoggined morons on the city council and the gibbering idiots like Gravy want a city full of black trash run by corrupt black trash.
frick them.

That's already the case anyway. A republican will never control BR for the foreseeable future.

Stop with this nonsense.
Bodi White. Bodi White. Needed 2% more registered Republicans to show up to the polls.
This is without a St. George on the books.
