I took up for Ard in the fact that he is a dumbass & didn’t know Denny was such a POS
The way he has handled himself since this broke, lying about the restraining order, talking shite about BRPD officer that complained to him about Perkins & not keeping records of complaints on paper shows he isn’t fit for the job
Plus the fact that he ended the press conference pointing out “he is an alleged criminal”

He's been in law enforcement for years. He knows what it looks like when the AG/LSP and Sabine SO surround you for a takedown. He tossed his phone in the water at the last minute. Had he been tipped off he might still be on the run and have tried other means of getting rid of his phone, which is likely 100% backed up to the cloud

That's nothing. They have a hunting camp in MS that DOZENS of deputies take their units to, both marked and unmarked. The gas money they have spent on personal travel is likely a ridiculous amount.

Nice summary.
I would like to add a few things -
There are a lot of allegations on social media that Mr. Perkins (former deputy) had a history of sketchy behavior with underage girls. Meaning - he made them uncomfortable during traffic stops and may have been a sicko perv. Again, people are sharing their stories on FB.
Other claims against Mr. Perkins are that he's planted drugs on innocent people and that he's intimidated many people and abused / embarrassed his badge and department.
(I would say that most criminals say they are innocent and blame the cops. I take some of these allegations with a grain of salt.)
Mr. Perkins took a polygraph in 2002 as a pre-requisite to getting hired on LPSO and was deemed "high risk", but he was hired anyway.
Both MR and Mrs Perkins waived their rights to a bail hearing in separate hearings. Both are still in custody. Their bonds / bail hearings will occur at a later date.
Each of them have hired defense attorneys.
Mr Perkins was moved to Ascension Parish jail for his own safety.
Mrs. Perkins is in Livingston Parish.
Based on everything I have read - It appears as though these acts of child rape and the videoing of it, it looks like it occurred in their home. But what do I know, right? I'm just a reader.
Many folks in Livingston Parish are emotional and want to point the finger at the Sheriff claiming there were too many red flags, allegations of misconduct,etc for Mr Perkins and that he had to have known he was a bad seed.
Let me say this - I live in LP, in Denham specifically. I do NOT know any of these people or anyone closely related to this situation.
I am simply sharing what I've read.

This! Guys like Perkins are serial. More parents and young women may now come forward (some victims won't). Some of these folks may have already tried to report Perkins behavior, or mentioned it too...at school, to the LPSO, etc. There is still much to unfold. With so much at state for a community and its citizens, in an era of high criminal sophistication, etc., I believe Sheriff candidates should be identified through a national search, thoroughly vetted and ultimately appointed through a Parish-level confirmation process. Appointment vs. Election! Ultimate selection factors can include education, leadership style, change management experience, general aptitude, public presentation ability, etc. I feel the same about judges. It's often good and necessary to bring in fresh eyes...someone who doesn't owe anything to anybody, has complete objectivity in evaluating personnel, is a professional and will administer Sheriff dep't functions fairly for employees and everyone interacting with the dep't... from those simply griping or guilty of minor violations, to those perpetrating offenses and those damaged by such offenses.

There’s only one known rape victim so far but there was other very disturbing stuff found that does not involves a victim.
If you watch the presser from yesterday, Ard keeps referring to “victims” but slips up and says they “know A child is involved” and “there might be other victims”

Does anyone know the age range of the victim(s)? Based on the posts here I get the feeling like the victim is a minor teenager. Not that it matter I guess, but just always hoping it isn't some toddler.
