A person who grew up in the suburbs would say that your ideal location would be too “out of the way” and would complain of isolation.
It’s a personal preference thing.

It's not the worst thing in the world. It's a starter house in a good school district (in an area with generally poor education) with decent neighbors that have similarly aged kids.
Would I like more space? Of course, but it is not 1/10th as bad as some of you think it is.

our neighbors are wonderful people and I love having them next door, but they got a new puppy and that dog does not shut up
they only live here 6 months out of the year, so things will be quiet soon, but then again, I do miss their company when they leave...
...but I won't miss that damn dog

The thing country people misunderstand about city living is that when you live in the city, nobody gives a shite who you are or what you're doing. It's privacy in numbers. My neighbors could give a crap less who I'm talking to, or what I'm talking about as long as I'm not bothering them.

And fwiw I enjoy going to the store seeing people I know ... who actually do care how you are, How your family is doing and what’s going on in your life.

I lived in Br, Memphis and Dallas.
My best friend lived on and off between Houston, KC, and altanta for past 20 years and my brother lived in NYC/Brooklyn and StLouis since graduating college.
So yeah I’ve experienced both city and country life.

Opposite for me, and I would assume for most people.
The benefits of day to day living in a city far outweigh the benefits of day to day living in rural areas. Shorter commutes to work, grocery stores, restaurants, bars, etc... all in your neighborhood. Just gives a better daily quality of life.
On the other hand, I enjoy visiting rural areas for vacations and I still have family (and family land) in rural areas that I can go visit on weekends if I want to. I'll probably eventually build a camp or something out there, but daily living out there is no bueno.

I prefer neighborhoods, provided the lot sizes are big and there are sidewalks and amenities. I have homes on the side but I open to a park and have a big lot so it feels very private.

We live in an older neighborhood with mature trees and fairly big lots. It looks like you are in the woods looking out of my bedroom window.
