The place we just sold is a typical suburban development with the houses fairly close together. Luckily, all of my ex-neighbors in the cul de sac are cool. The neighborhood we just bought in is kind of odd. It's zoned residential/commercial. There's an empty grassy lot w/trees next door and an empty house next to that. The other side of us is a lawyer's office. Drugstore down the hill we sit on and across the main street. Only one neighbor in back of us, his house faces away, fronting another street. Access to our driveway is through a semi-private alley. We're in a weird little oasis kind of spot, in an established neighborhood without any neighbors next to us. I dig it.

I like to go out at midnight and light of a few black cats....then get on Nextdoor and laugh at the neighbors freaking out about gunshots

I've done them all. Loved city/suburban living. We take vacations to cities. If you have good neighbors it's great.

Now that I'm "older" I appreciate the outdoors more and having space enough to ride ATV's, Jeep, shoot and fish all on my property. It took me a long time of watching the RE market, but I finally found a place to do this that's only 10-12 mins out further than the suburb I left.

Most of my neighbors are cool. More people to drink with at night. Of course, we are sitting 20 feet from each other.
