Some in Alabama get offended over the perception Alabama is a trash state (right or wrong), but I love it being thought of that way.
I got 4 acres and a nice house 20 minutes from work for a good price.
I love not seeing nosey arse neighbors and being able walk around outside naked.

That’s why I live rural and I’ll never go back. I can pee off my front porch, side porch, back deck, anywhere I want within 300 yards of my house, got fish in the ponds, deer in the yard, my own shooting range, my daughter and I can crank up the garage band as loud as we please, I’m 20 minutes from work. You can have the subdivision.

There seems to be a special breed of people who can tolerate living in such a setup.
Our house sits on a half-acre with a good bit of space between our house and those of our neighbors. On the backside though, after the flood someone bought the forest there and put in these nice 1.8k-2k sqft homes that are maybe 10-15 feet apart from one another (you can pretty much from from roof to roof) with teeny front and back yards. #NoSir #HardPass

I enjoy hearing the opposing world view of a Northerner. It's total savagery down here. I live in a country setting community and most folks take care of their dogs. But we live a half mile away from a dog dumping area. If it weren't for the coyotes we would be overrun with stray animals. I'm not sure any New Yorker could comprehend it.
