Isolate the people who are at-risk.
You mean knowingly sending the elderly contagious back to the nursing homes on purpose, wasn't a good idea?

It has permanently ruined the taste of regular coke for me. Dr pepper and stuff are unchanged, but regular coke is forever awful now.

1200 pages is a little too much to scroll through so I apologize for anything ridiculous I said.

I wonder if we'll ever get to the bottom of whether or not China released this on purpose, or it was truly a lab accident.
I could easily see them killing thousands of their own people as part of a geopolitical plot.

Maybe, but there was a point pretty early on where we understood the virus. (And the Fauci Diary releases show that it was no where near as bad as we were lead to believe). But petty tyrants decided to close businesses and keep children masked anyway, and the Facebook Karens rejoiced as they wagged their fingers and scolded everyone else.
Add to that the constantly moving goalposts where “two weeks to flatten the curve” became “hospitalizations are too high” which was then replaced by “cases” as the metric to reopen the country.
Now we have people acting like lockdowns never happened. Like the government didn’t send SWAT teams after people walking in the wilderness by themselves.
“Lockdowns? What do you mean? You mean the two weeks we got to stay home and watch Tiger King?”
And then our government tried to force everyone who wanted to work and provide for their families to take a vaccine that they didn’t want and didn’t need.
This is my issue with it. Sure, there were overreactions on both sides, but the side with the most overreactions ended up being the side that was almost completely wrong about everything...and the side that pretends that it wasn't a big deal with the bullshite that the government and local governments were pulling. It wasn't long at all before graphs came out showing the exact same infection/spread rate between masked areas and unmasked areas, yet we still had to wear stupid fricking masks for over a year afterward. And the :get the vaccine or you can't go out in public."
That stupid totalitarian shite was real, but people seem to pretend now that it's an exaggeration. It's infuriating how soon society, as a whole, forgets just how bad and dumb that shite was. I mean they wanted to make you go one way down grocery aisles. They made you wear a mask when you walked into a restaurant, but not at your table. They said certain public things (restaurants, bars, etc.) had to close but others (casinos) could be open. None of it made any logical sense whatsoever. Yet we still had to abide by a lot of that bullshite anyway for political and power reasons.
Then you have people in the media and the "science" communities spouting off bullshite that was blatant lying. Someone like Fauci should be prosecuted (in the US) for the shite he pulled.
The gist of it to me is that initially, sure let's take some precautions. But once people in power got a taste for basically ubiquitous and unlimited power, it went off the rails very quickly and they didn't want to let go of that power. And that led us down some insanely stupid paths. And that should never be forgotten.

Some people find a sense of belonging and a sense of identity in the strangest and most random shite.
If you're that desperately seeking these things, go to church!

Sorry to tell you but you are not pure blood. There are antibodies to the covid spike protein floating around in your blood stream right now. The only way you could be considered a pure blood is to have lived in a bubble and had zero interaction with other people since the summer of 2019.
Took only the precautions required and did the bare minimum from jump. Wha honestly never scared in the least. Traveled all over the place during all of it because flights and hotels were so cheap. Not a pureblood so no pats on the back for myself there to fit in with the narrative here.
Got the jab so I could do all the travel wherever I wanted, I was no more afraid of the jab as I was of Covid. Was never sick before the jab and never sick after the jab.

Agree.
We had the information about masks and what populations (old/sick) were at risk much earlier than we actually embraced it as a society, and that's because of politicians.
The shots probably did make sense for the at-risk people, but forcing others through a variety of methods to get a novel shot with no testing despite being extremely low risk for severe illness is something we should never forget.

I've been right about a lot of things but I've never been more right about anything than i was about covid

Of all the stupid, illogical rules, I think this one gets a bad rap. It wasn't stupid or illogical; it was just incorrect. At the time, we believed that covid spread via liquids, so people were told to wear masks while walking through the restaurant (potentially talking) so their saliva wouldn't land on people/plates/etc. Now, it turns out that was wrong, and covid could spread as an aerosol, so the masks while walking through the restaurant served no purpose, as it could still spread just as easily through the air when seated. But in a paradigm in which people were working with imperfect information, it wasn't an unreasonable compromise between letting restaurants operate business as usual and forcing restaurants to shut down entirely.
Plenty of other dumb shite to point out, but I don't think this one should be lumped in with that.

This was my post on 3/12/20 in that thread.

Y’all want to save the most lives? Take steps to protect the elderly. As far as the rest of us, there’s no reason we shouldn’t be able to go about things as usual taking steps we would normally take if we caught a virus. Stay home and chill till it’s over. Wash hands. Etc. that alone keeps this thing from killing hundreds of thousands which is apparently what every panicked bitch seems to think.

The truth is the severity of the situation is somewhere between the extremes people were espousing.
It wasn't going to kill all of us and masks didn't do much, if anything. Most of the world could easily handle getting that virus and fully recover.
It also wasn't the common cold that we shouldn't take seriously because there were, early on before mutations, a lot of deaths and severe illnesses in at risk populations. And it was very contagious.
Hindsight, we should've just focused on those populations and isolating them and let the rest of the world be free.
I think looking back, I also really get mad thinking about how long they let this hysteria last despite conclusive data around the virus mortality rate dropping precipitously as it mutated. It eventually DID become something akin to the common cold and they kept up with the shenanigans.

That whole evolution of events was so horrible. We are so quick to memory hole it but it was very apparent very early on that the "cure" was far worse than the disease.

I don't think so. Not because I'm not interested in what you said, but I don't have the time to comb through 400+ pages for ell_13 posts.

Then don’t make assumptions about how you think my opinion has changed due to hindsight.

2020 sucked. It was such a weird time to be alive. From the shutdowns, quarantine, the mask hysteria, the vaccine hysteria, the crap ton of people who died, etc.
I would really prefer to not go through that again.
