B is correct in that instance. However, what the proper protocol in the instance of having a turning lane leading up to the cross over?
Theres a median here in town that includes a turn lane on each side. If you do B, you block the turning lanes entry to the median. If you do A, your view is blocked by the waiting vehicles.

Definitely B. That way you can block each other’s view from oncoming traffic and have much longer lines both depending on traffic to be open both ways.

There are 100s of them. And that is where people really frick up. B is still the correct answer since we drive on the right side of the road.
Why on earth do people think we drive in the right side of the road in every situation except this one??
ETA. The turn lanes are there to get you out of the travel lanes, and shouldn’t change the fact that we drive on the right in the US and B is correct

Same scenario but cross street is one way and car wants to Uturn. Uturn on the one way cross street or go up to the next one?
Think basically Canal in Nola.
I say this because I was in the middle on the street car tracks of a one way and a car wanted to Uturn, but I'm taking up the intersection, it was my fault, but it's a one way so I didn't think about someone turning left onto that street.

Depends on width of median. Also if there are lane markings and stop or yield signs making area a true part of cross street (if there is cross street to left and right) or it's own street if not.
Assuming there are cross streets and this is not really a u-turn question it can be both and really need more information to pick one over the other. If narrow (usually has opposing left turn lanes where we are) it's treated like you turn left at stop lights crossing in front - A. If it's wide the turn lane it treated like it's a street and cross like B (better when they also use divider and lane markers and signs but don't think it's required).

In general, B. But as brought up a few times there are scenarios where it doesn’t make sense and A is preferred.

It's the same difference either way
if both people do A, they block each other's view of on coming traffic. that doesn't happen if both do B
