It genuinely baffles me that this has become an issue. I absolutely believe there is a meaningful and useful distinction to be drawn between sex and gender (which has garnered me more than a little bit of derision on here). But part of acknowledging that distinction is acknowledging that human beings will have preferences related to both, just like they have preferences regarding everything else under the sun. Saying that people aren't allowed those preferences in an attempt to blow past distinguishing between sex and gender straight to "only gender exists" is utter bullshite, and is the type of thing that has the potential to set back queer rights significantly if not checked.

People on this board get a little too caught up in the chromosomal determinants of sex without bringing up the neuro-plastic determinants of gender.
I’m not saying there’s an indefinite number of genders, but there is neurological evidence of gender variation in the human population.
