So where do we draw the line on how much irresponsibility we are willing to subsidize?

You're the only one so far unable to at least have a discussion with me. Maybe read the thread prior to flinging shite.

As a high school teacher I have no problem with this. I teach in a high poverty area and we provide them for free in the counselors office. Schools need to have them available. Maybe the numbers are off but with the number of shite parents we have, I have zero doubt a lot of the girls couldn't provide them without help. We spend way to much money on dumb shite in education, but this isn't a bad spend here.

Yep, and tattoos as well. I’m all for helping people that need help, but not the ones that expect help.

thats a fair question. Id probably draw the line just behind period products in school. As mentioned by another poster and my own experience, it's something that legitimately can effect the classroom environment as a whole, outside of just the individual. I think thats what makes it different than things like deodorant, toothpaste, etc. While it's annoying smelling a sweaty kid theyre not going to pass diseases or whatever from smelling like shite. Blood ending up on a seat could, however.

Apples to oranges here, unless you'd prefer women just bleed freely.

What about all the other stuff? Or is your period equivalent to going to the bathroom?

Yea, it kinda is.

quote:

If anything, stopping a bleed while at school would seem better served by a trip to the nurse's office.

Except you don't stop this kind of bleed

Following the logic of your question, do you need more tampons than the ones you use at home?

Possibly, women have to change their tampons & shite throughout the day.

quote:

You can buy tampons from Walmart for less than 20 cents a piece. I simply will not accept that cost is too much for 40% of girls. If feminine products are not high up on their families' purchasing priorities, that's a different discussion.

Not everyone comes from a good family.

Are you serious? This guy will argue about the day of the week ,color of the sky, etc. Look at this seemingly innocuous thread title. Half the posts are by this guy.

The only two possible options are I pay for it or none of them have tampons?

Most school nurses offices already have some tampons, so that would cover a rare instance of a bleedthrough like Pedro has discussed.

Sounds like you don't think that one is retarded.

Ok, did I claim otherwise?

It seems like you don't actually think much of what I'm saying is retarded

I remember a couple of times in high school girls I knew had to ask friends or counselors for some emergency pads or whatever. So I think giving them out would be fine on a limited basis. As long as girls aren't stockpiling the freebies.

I'm thankful. I have always kept some in my class for kids that forget theirs. Now, I will just send the kids down to the nurse.

Are you for real? Are you going to bitch about kids getting band-aids from the school nurse too?
