She should only attempt this after all apprehension is gone. No room for second guessing.

Haven’t been in four accidents in my entire driving career, sure it’s the other guy’s fault?

I've been riding motorcycles for 52 years and have been in 4 accidents----and yes, I'm damn sure about who was at fault.

One old guy ran a stop sign and I T-boned him on my BSA 650.

A teenager failed to yield when making a left hand turn coming from the opposite direction as me and I T-Boned him into the passenger side front fender with my 59 Panhead.

Another old man, driving in the same direction as me in the right hand lane decided he wanted to be in the left lane when I was right beside him even with his door----and he kept coming.

The last one was an idiot who ran into the back of me while at a red light, not paying attention to what they should have been doing.

All these mishaps happened in New Orleans while on city streets.

Oh, and out of curiosity, how many years have you been on 2 wheels driving in an urban area????

As someone that has ridden street bikes since the late 70's I'm gonna tell you she isn't a candidate for this. I think she understands how much you enjoy riding and as a result she wants to share that with you. But that doesn't make her a motorcyclist.

I can tell you not everyone is cut out for motorcycle riding and based upon what you have described I wouldn't encourage her interest.

If you want her comfortable riding motorcycles keep her away from ICU,ER and OR nurses .Patients with the most gruesome injuries we ever saw were in motorcycle accidents.

Maybe get a touring bike so she can ride with you? It’s a good way to learn to lean, etc. I’m fine riding as a passenger, and I considered taking lessons, but never could get comfortable with it.

Those thinks look like they'd be a lot of fun. I see them all decked out with rims, lights, and sound systems around my area.

Don't skip the MSF ridercourse, regardless of how far out they are booked.

Excellent into to fundamentals and having a third party doing the teaching will be better for both of you.

It's how I started back when I got into bikes in my teens.

And she shouldn't be riding without a motorcycle endorsement on her drivers license.

32 years on the road and over 130k combined miles on 2 wheels. I've had a few off road getoffs but lucky enough never to have any collisions with cars on the road.

Since no one in this thread already has, let me try to explain a little something about bike riders and women—including your wife.

If you really want to know what she want ls in a guy. Well, she’s looking for a dream on a mean machine with hell in his eyes. She wants a devil in skin tight leather. He's gonna be wild as the wind. And one fine night she’ll be holding on tight to a cool rider. If he's cool enough he can burn her through and through. If it takes forever, then she’ll wait forever. No ordinary boy is gonna do. She wants a rider that's cool.

Hope this helps.

The MSF class is complete garbage, something more like total control if they still exist is where you want to send people. MSF is a joke and doesn’t prepare you for much of anything.

Disagree. It's excellent training for beginning riders and a stepping stone to getting ones motorcycle endorsement.

Total control is for people already experienced with the fundamentals.

Yawn, so does drinking, smoking, snow skiing, and hundreds if not thousands of other things that we humans enjoy doing every day. You sound scared to live.

Is not being scared to live, it's being cognizant of risky behavior that exponentially increases you risk of death.

It's like driving drunk at 100mph with no seatbelt because "we all have to die sometime..."
