I doubt it. Cameras left probably got taken out and I'm sure communications isn't great down there. Somebody is going to get a drone up by this afternoon id imagine.

One letter makes a BIG difference here.

A few miles makes a huge difference in surge.
Landfall of Laura was about 25 miles east of Rita landfall.
The most destructive surge was just east of the eye which was about 15-20 miles east of Holly Beach in this case.

Just saw a guy clearing limbs off the road with a tractor. Wind in Pineville has died down but still experiencing gusts.
If any of yall saw my post about the part of the pine tree falling, here's a pic.
My power lines are under there
Post-Katrina (BR), a power line was down but still connected across my parent's driveway. Power was out, my brother and I were over there and about to clear it.
Their CEILING FANS bumped every so often, just a hit or so about every minute. Wasnt enough juice to flicker the lights, but obviously not a cold line either.
Remember, you got people hooking generators up wrong, etc. Might not be enough to instantly cook you, but could be enough to shock your heart. And the first responders have enough on their plates, don't need to come defibrillate you right now

There’s a pretty solid band heading towards Ruston. Hopefully it goes through the ASOS site so we can get a good wind reading.
My son is in Ruston. He lost power about an hour ago and I have not heard from him since.

That’s actually pretty believable given the path.
Fortunately there aren’t a ton of camps at Rutherford Beach. That would have been a different story entirely.

Ive got a driver that just loaded some relief supplies in Iowa heading to Sulphur and the contact onsite said there is a Chemical Leak within a couple blocks of their yard.

I guess being in the western eyewall saved them from the worst of the surge.

Yep, and it’ll probably be a few months before there is a radar in Lake Charles again. Parts for NEXRAD radars are actually pretty scarce I believe, so completely replacing them is likely a challenge. I remember that it took many months for the one in San Juan, Puerto Rico to be replaced after Hurricane Maria.
I was concerned about this when the eye came onshore. It was looking like the LC radar was going to spend considerable time in the NE eye wall, and I asked what the odds were it went down. It didn't last long either, once the winds reached max.
Not good. It is going to take a while to get back online. I'm wondering what the chances are of them replacing it entirely. I guess they could bring in some portable type for the time being.
