That answers why the Lake Charles radar went down last night

Yep, and it’ll probably be a few months before there is a radar in Lake Charles again. Parts for NEXRAD radars are actually pretty scarce I believe, so completely replacing them is likely a challenge. I remember that it took many months for the one in San Juan, Puerto Rico to be replaced after Hurricane Maria.

I have a friend who's family has a pork farm out there and she said her dad reported lots of strong wind through the night but nothing other than that. So I'm sure it's just the risk of trees falling over. Hope that helps.

There’s a pretty solid band heading towards Ruston. Hopefully it goes through the ASOS site so we can get a good wind reading.

Pretty windy here in bossier. Nowhere open to grab some food. Trying to get to a smoke shop and get some kratom too looks like I might have to head over to Shreveport for that

Man, I hope you can make it through. Hopes and prayers.

That Golden Corral was blown apart like it didn't have any structure or gusset plates anywhere. It almost looks like a giant stomped on a toothpick building.

Hey folks, if you live in Covington, you don’t need to “Mark yourself safe from Hurricane Laura” on Facebook. My grandma stayed with my two uncles and aunts in moss bluff and we still haven’t heard from them this morning. But I sure am glad that those north shore folks are taking time out of their coffee this morning to let folks know they are okay

I do not nor have I ever had a Facebook page, and I live 130+ miles away from LC, and I have had 4 friends from around the county text me this morning asking how we were, so I can see why posting I am okay on Facebook could be beneficial even if you live hundreds of miles away, friends from out of state are not as aware of LA geography.....

Also, what would make someone stay in Moss Bluff with a 4+ hurricane bearing down on them?
