So is it too late for them to go get them? I know they said they were on their own but wonder if there’s still time.
If lower Cameron Parish, it’s way too late.

150 people in Cameron Parish refused to leave, planned to weather #Laura in everything from elevated homes to recreational vehicles. “It’s a very sad situation. We did everything we could to encourage them to leave.”
That is so sad to hear. Ill be surprised if 10% of them live.
Stubbornness is something.

No increase in winds on new advisory. No decrease, either. I don’t think we will see a Cat. 5, but that doesn’t really matter.
Michael wasn't originally a Cat. 5.

4 or so days ago, looked like it might have 100 mph winds which is still strong but not what it is now
3 days ago it looked like this, so getting to 100 MPH winds was a pretty bold statement:

Yeah, if you’re south of Lake Charles at this point, no one is coming for you now. It’s between you and God now.

What would you have them do when they expect their infrastructure to be under water?

I assume that's a dramatic way to say "a boat."

So when it gets back into the Atlantic it’s going to reform as a tropical storm? Wow

Prayers answered my brother decided to finally leave Sulphur. He's safe in Port Barre. I was certain he was gonna die if he stayed.

I wonder what sort of affect this will have on the population. Some that took busses out of town may not return sort of like the Katrina to Houston relocation. Also how many wont rebuild and just leave?
It'll be interesting.
It'll be interesting.

I can think of infinitely worse ways than dying from a cat 4 storm after cooking, drinking, and playing music all night with my chosen family.

Sheriff said there is nowhere in the parish that’s safe to bring them.
