Rum, so looks like landing just east of the TX/LA border? Gotta say, models were right on it for the last 48 hours.

Acadiana ambulance said they’ll stop at 35 mph winds. Hope no one has a heart attack at home.

Yeah but didn’t they say it would land as a Cat 3? It’s teetering with a Cat 5
They said 3 but cautioned it had a high ceiling
it was discussed hard in the thread that the NHC discussions constantly warned they felt their intensity forecasts were "conservative" and that it could push higher
pretty sure those statements were way back when it was thought it would come ashore as a Cat 1

Prayers answered my brother decided to finally leave Sulphur. He's safe in Port Barre. I was certain he was gonna die if he stayed.

Well you wouldn’t just die all of a sudden... you’d drown after hours of struggling torture most likely

I’m wondering if you’re going to see mass abandonment in some of the poorer areas downtown

Unsurvivable storm surge with large and destructive waves will
cause catastrophic damage from Sea Rim State Park, Texas, to
Intracoastal City, Louisiana, including Calcasieu and Sabine Lakes.
This surge could penetrate up to 40 miles inland from the immediate
coastline, and flood waters will not fully recede for several days
after the storm.

Jeff P predicts LC will just miss the eye and be on the NE quadrant for hours. No break.

Recreational vehicle = RV
They'd probably be better off in boats

So when it gets back into the Atlantic it’s going to reform as a tropical storm? Wow
Believe it or not, the water is pretty warm up that way right now, too.

motorhome, camper
stuff you wouldn't be safe in during a regular severe storm... let alone a major hurricane

That's what I meant about the people on busses leaving and never returning like Katrina
