Next to accuweather on Directv (361-2) a new to us channel just popped up

"Severe weather channel" includes a feed from Channel 9, looks to be from Lake Charles. Sound could be clearer.

Watched a documentary about The Curse of Julia Brown

Small town wiped out in 1915 from a hurricane after a voodoo priestess cursed everyone

Really interesting story

So is this stuff this Papin guy is putting out believable? I find it hard to believe he’s the only person seeing these special wind readings

I'm rethinking my decision to stay in eunice and not go east to Livingston with my brother

I mean, yeah, probably would have been a good idea, but I don't think you're screwed.

Hell, if you've got buddies in Opelousas, you'd probably be alright there. It's not going to be fun, but we are riding it out in OP.

Okay im pretty convinced this thing will either hit LC directly or just to the west.

Either way not a good picture.

It’s radar detected winds that are very high up. It doesn’t translate to surface winds.

The courthouse.

LNG plant being built there has 35ft tall walls and built to withstand cat5 storms.

137 kt surface reported in the northern eyewall. If verified, #Laura is a category five. A grave situation is an understatement.

These dumb motherfrickers, here.

For example:

My friends dog is stuck in lake charles.. she tried to go back and get him but she is afraid she won’t make it. Idk what to do!
He was at a friends house and the friend was going to stay, but they ended up evacuating and brought the dog back to her house.. and they don’t know what to do. ?? please help

And,

We got our kids out, they are with my mom, sister and grandma. Between the 3 of them, they've raised 11 kids and have been through plenty of situations, so I am not too worried about them. My husband and I are staying because we have 10 pets. I'm unnaturally calm right now. Not sure where my anxiety has gone but it's MIA thank goodness. Truthfully I think my brain has shut down all thoughts of what might happen out of survival instinct because I could easily go crazy doing that. We are in between DeQuincy and Ragley, not far off Hwy. 12. Only ones left on our road. It is eerily quiet. I'm glad to have this group to talk to. Hope everyone makes it through and the aftermath isn't horrible. I'm really hoping that things were implemented after Rita that will make this less difficult than 15 years ago.

frick! After all the bad news and shite today, one of my dogs locked me out of the hotel room. I went down to the truck and one of them flipped this little doohickey.

Stole a do not disturb hanger off someone’s knob and was able to hook it and get in.

Guilty dogs:
