Not to be that guy, but it has mass and velocity, so it does have momentum. Would take a hell of a lot of energy to stop it's motion.

When are tropical storm force winds supposed to start in lake Charles?

If it comes in at a 5, how the hell did the wiff so badly on the strength? I mean, that can endanger lives. people who stay thinking it will be a 3, trusting the reports, get stuck in the path of a 5.
also theres so much shite that goes into these things that can change quickly. and the science thats gone inot forcasts is still young (since ww2 or a bit after) to be able to get the amount down that we do now is pretty remarkable.

It looks like covid-19 is a concern but there are buses to Austin for evacuation. Austin turning away people because they ran out of hotel vouchers.

it is the weather channel so who knows how true it is...

Fair enough.
All is to say what direction it's currently headed is immaterial to the direction it will ultimately take.

keep thinking this. It looks like it lands just west of Galveston. The science says no, though.
Projections on TWC show Galveston on the very edge of Hurricane Warning. The forecasted storm surge won’t do much to them. This thing is going to be east of Galveston.
