Can only hope it weakens the last 100 miles or so as it interacts with the shallower water along the continental shelf. And maybe a little shear interaction with that trough

I’m in St Mary parish with a live oak in the front yard. Anything that can take that tree down will happen with an empty house.

JBE said that they know what the 10am advisory is calling for already, and that it’ll be forecasting surge of up to 18 ft.

I'd settle for levels off at least, but hope for that. A well timed start to an EWRC as it hits the shallow water and the shear conditions change could do it.

Even if not, just leveling off instead of intensifying is a small victory. You see the max winds over a wider swath of land when intensifying into landfall vs even just starting to wane.
