There's risk of tornadoes in that path too as it's probably harder to pinpoint where exactly the worst tornado path is going to be in the hurricane.
Anywhere NE quadrant up to 100 miles or so from center

Latest HWRF 125 mph just before landfall with about 50 to 60 miles of hurricane force winds on the east side. Note that the official forecast is for only about 40 miles of hurricane force winds from center.

Hurricane force winds aren't the only concern if you are in the outer bands. The tornados are almost more worrisome.

The extent of hurricane force winds on that map seems a bit aggressive
Hurricane force 100 miles from center?
Id expect TS force 100 miles from center
It’s also gusts, no sustained. That’s pretty believable if the intensity pans out.

Is that a 92 o that guy's tie, which I assume represents either Kingwood/Atascosita or IAH?

Sorry to ask a likely dumb question but the 100 miles from center ... is that total or to each side?

You know you're in the shite when the weatherman puts on his safety goggles.

Look at where they have it going. Dude is wishcasting it into Houston hard.
He's bringing the Euro as his forecast.
I bet the LCH Mets are showing the GFS and HWRF off.

HWRF and HMON sticking to the border landfall. Good news is HWRF intensity is nearly 15mb weaker than the last run.

I think this storm rips through the atmospheric vortex and comes out on the other side of the high pressure ridge to intensify into a rather strong storm in the coming hours. Look for the precipitation shaft to increase along the outer bands of the eye wall. That may occur in the Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone by the looks of the Maximum Sustained Surface Wind. Just FYI
The "Just FYI" is like hitting a 3 point shot, getting fouled, and hitting the free-throw for a 4 point play.

I like the early AM landfall
Like there to be light outside while getting pounded in the a

Can I get an official ruling?

Windy is pretty cool. They were pretty consistent on a west of border landfall since early this morning

Not looking good for China there.

That 58 over Lake Charles should be 100. The official NWS forecast for west side of LC and Westlake / Sulphur shows gusts between 95 and 100.
BIG difference between 58 and 100.
But either one could still end up being correct at this point.
