at least 3.5 days before landfall... not inside 48 hours

and NOLA is inside the cone of uncertainty

there's a reason the NHC tried to get rid of the centerline

f the NWS was as trustworthy as you claim, my company wouldnt have a staff of Meteorologists, and hundreds of business entities in the US alone wouldnt feel the need to contract with Corporate Meteorology. Ask the the Oil Patch where they get their WX. It isnt the NWS.

People use private mets because they want them to answer company specific questions.

The NHC and NWS isn't going to tell you what you should do with your oil platforms like a private met can. It has nothing to do with their accuracy or lack thereof.

I remember it was midnight Friday night/Saturday morning that I checked the track for Katrina, and it had shifted from the Florida panhandle to right up the poop chute of New Orleans. I knew all hell was going to break loose when everyone woke up and see the shift. I packed the family up and went to stay with my folks in Baton Rouge that Saturday morning.

Notice the size of the cone. Everyone forgets that it made landfall inside of the cone. They weren't as accurate back then, hence the larger cone.

Wait so now people are heading to BR to get AWAY from this storm? I have clearly not been keeping up with the tracker.
