If the West shift doesn’t come soon we are heading to my best friends place in BR.

Katrina was suppose to go to Florida and Georges to New Orleans. We all know how those turned out.

Yes, but that was 4+ days in advance.

We're within 48 hours of landfall now. They won't miss by more than 75 miles either way.

They have competition now from Accuweather and WeatherNation. They say shite like that to keep you watching. I trust The Weather Channel about as much as the NWS.

You imply you don't trust the weather channel and then say you trust them as much as the organization you should absolutely trust.

The Weather Channel?

I'd rather get my weather info from a one-armed, deaf, and dumb monkey (or slackster), before getting it from TWC.

Were you there during Harvey? I just bought a couple blocks north of there off shepherd and now I’m worried about flooding or my new roof. Brand new construction not in a flood zone

We had already moved up a couple of months before Harvey but still had friends in that area. From my understanding you’ll be high and dry for the most part, but there will be some localized street flooding and road closures.

Packing my shite up and coming to stay with you... We can keep the TD Weather Center up and running remotely.

Correct. BBreck said Katrina was going way east of NOLA.

However back then it seemed like a crap shoot. I feel the technology and models have gotten pretty good about where its going to hit. Where they still lack is accurately predicting intensity.

anyone know how many miles TS force winds extend eastward from the center of laura

Edited: 170 miles right now but forecast says about 125 miles at landfall due to Laura tightening up.

170 is roughly the distance from the LA/TX state line to the 10/12 split in BR.

125 gets to about Breaux Bridge / New Iberia from the state line.

Thats good info right there

If the NWS was as trustworthy as you claim, my company wouldnt have a staff of Meteorologists, and hundreds of business entities in the US alone wouldnt feel the need to contract with Corporate Meteorology. Ask the the Oil Patch where they get their WX. It isnt the NWS.

I remember when I was a kid during Hurricane Lili and Breck said there would be "complete devastation" in Lafourche and Terrebonne for that storm and that of course didn't happen. Really got everyone worked up for nothing.

No one from that area ever really trusted him again.
