She did great. We had a very calm outward vibe in the house, just to keep her relaxed and not worry my other two kids. I was definitely like a duck in water, though. Had medical friends and relatives on call to FaceTime me through a delivery. Crazy times.

anyone know how many miles TS force winds extend eastward from the center of laura?

Recon measured a sustained wind of 55mph 120 miles NE of the center. NHC advisory has TS winds 175 miles to the NE of the center, but, interestingly enough, they're actually expecting winds to tighten up over time. The forecast for TS force winds shrinks to like 125 miles by landfall.

we used to live off 43rd street North of 610, so i've been on it a few times. I had no idea it extended this far North tho. I would always only go South to downtown and back to our area.

You can park where White Oak Bayou intersects Alabonson Rd. Be warned, that area is sketchy but the parking lot is safe during the day.

if I am reading that right, we have between a 20-40% probability of TS force winds in Mandeville, LA. Is this thing going to be that large?

Were you there during Harvey? I just bought a couple blocks north of there off shepherd and now I’m worried about flooding or my new roof. Brand new construction not in a flood zone

/20 at 9:06 am to DVinBR Finally looked at the models this morning they look to be zero'd in. Probably not going to see anything other than minor shifts with little over 40+ hours until landfall. Obviously those shifts will make a difference for someone. Good luck all.

Edited: 170 miles right now but forecast says about 125 miles at landfall due to Laura tightening up.

170 is roughly the distance from the LA/TX state line to the 10/12 split in BR.

125 gets to about Breaux Bridge / New Iberia from the state line.

I know.

Just trying to pick a NW area away that i can come home to my shite.

I agree with "is it far enough".

If I didnt have my elderly father I'd go to Destin on a vacation. Haven't had one all year.

T-minus 38 mins until the next NHC come update. I suspect the center stays generally the same, possibly drifts but the width of the cone (as expected) will narrow.

The Weather Channel? Not Surprising. They have competition now from Accuweather and WeatherNation. They say shite like that to keep you watching. I trust The Weather Channel about as much as the NWS.
