Invading a sovereign country and indiscriminately shelling cities that results in thousands of civilian injuries and/or deaths are war crimes but are felony war crimes.

hat is big If true. Russia needed to completely capture Irpin to get their artillery within range of the government parts of Kyiv.
Irpin mayor says it's true, but still not confirmed
quote:
The mayor of Irpin says Ukrainian troops have retaken the Kyiv suburb from Russian forces.
“We have good news today – Irpin has been liberated,” Mayor Oleksandr Markushyn says on Telegram, according to Reuters.
There is no independent confirmation of the claim.

Well GWB and Dick Cheney have not traveled outside of the USA since leaving office in 01/2009 because of concerns about being arrested for war crimes.

As dumb as the Iraq war was we weren’t shelling residential neighborhoods. False equivalency is false

If the international community wanted to try them in absentia in The Hague, then they would have. The truth is that if you're powerful enough, you don't have to play by the same rules as everyone else.

The Chechens are definitely throwing a hell of a lot of business at Zenitco. Hell, Zenitco may be the official sponsor of Chechnya.

We're talking about indiscriminate shelling of residential areas and/or shooting POWs in the legs and you post a case of mistaken identity from an attack helicopter?

Some people are so hell bent on "gotcha" moments that they don't think about things logically

WSJ: Roman Abramovich and Ukrainian Peace Negotiators Suffer Suspected Poisoning
quote:
Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich and Ukrainian peace negotiators suffered symptoms of suspected poisoning after a meeting in Kyiv earlier this month, people familiar with the matter said.
Following the meeting in the Ukrainian capital, Mr. Abramovich, who has shuttled between Moscow, Lviv and other negotiating venues, as well as at least two senior members of the Ukrainian team developed symptoms that included red eyes, constant and painful tearing, and peeling skin on their faces and hands, the people said.
They blamed the suspected attack on hard-liners in Moscow who they said wanted to sabotage talks to end the war. A person close to Mr. Abramovich said it wasn’t clear who had targeted the group.

Are you suggesting that the US didn't commit war crimes in Iraq or Afghanistan?

No.
Quite a leap again.

No, he's suggesting there's a difference when civilians are killed due to collateral damage or faulty intel versus purposefully targeting civilians.
Unless you're claiming the US purposefully targeted civilians in Afghanistan and Iraq.

The Russians have a robust abortion culture. 1 in 3 women between 15 and 44 have had at least one.

I would damn near guarantee that happened over the course of 20 years.
I would also say that it's highly likely that the Ukrainians are using these residential areas as operational areas either intentionally or just as a byproduct of where the Russians are moving. I don't know why y'all act as if that's nowhere in the realm of possibilities. They're likely acting just like insurgent groups in Iraq and Afghanistan.
