This was 3 weeks ago. They are fighting a war like its 1960 not 2022.
This does raise a question; at the height of the Iraq war when we had 200k+ troops there, how much that would be more specialized Green Berets/Rangers? It couldn't have been more than 2k or so right?
Not sure on those troop numbers. That 2k could be in the ballpark, though.
I can understand how the average grunt wouldn't have NVG's, but I'd bet that equipment was a collection of battlefield pickups and not necessarily from "SF-type" troops.

Well Ukraine is on the verge of encircling approximately 1/4th of Russia’s invasion force.

The only city Ukraine has lost is Kherson and it’s not a port city. Mariupol is still holding out and Russia’s army is 80 miles away from Odessa and falling back. If you look at the map posted two pages back, you will see that Russia’s control of the eastern part of Ukraine is much less than expected and they are nowhere close to controlling the eastern part of Ukraine.
