I’m going to say that there are no winners and Russia is the bigger loser.
IMO.. This is a great and important observation... at the moment, both are losers.. its just that Russia seems to be at a greater loss than Ukraine..
I would not call a country that was invaded and managed to resist that a loser.

I can't wait until we hear all the benevolent things it was funding jan 2017- jan 2021. When are they releasing that info?

1) Russia conquers Ukraine, deposes the government, and turns it into Belarus. That was Putin's objective and the only scenario by which he wins.
IMO Putin ultimately just wants Crimea to be recognized as Russian. He needs other stuff out of the war to make it seem worth the cost (especially now), but that is the ultimate prize.
Even if Putin had bit the head off the snake and taken Kyiv in the early weeks of the war, Ukraine still had a large military that wasn't going to just roll over and accept Russian rule. Russia didn't really have enough troops to hold Kyiv from the Ukrainian army even if they took it, or a good way to resupply them.
In my view the "3 Day Military Operation" was a quick strike to get Ukraine to fold and negotiate swiftly rather than to actually beat Ukraine in that time period. The strength of forces used and allocation of those forces don't match up with the idea that they thought they could just end the war entirely that quickly.
I think Putin's calculation was that he would get Crimea, the already embattled regions in the east, and guarantees that Ukraine would not join NATO.
Now after Trump's rare earth comment I think we are going to see the battle become about mineral resources... Ukraine needs to defend them to use as a bargaining chip and Russia needs to take them for the same reason. I'm sure its been a consideration for the entire conflict, but I think you'll start to see a real focus there.

That make me laugh.
I'm 10000000% supportive of Trump's attack on USAID. Tear it down and rebuild it while implementing the appropriate oversight so it doesn't happen again.
USAID is just the tip of the iceberg and was an easy target. There are much larger grifts in US spending occurring; I'm looking at you, Medicaid & Medicare.

500,000 whole dollars!!!

It's not your money. It's not Romania's money.
It's taxpayers' money. Whether or not it's a large amount to you is insignificant, the bigger issue is why and to fix it.

You’re so incredibly smug. I am legitimately so happy your neocon bullshite organizations are getting blasted out of Washington. USAIDS today looks like a car hit by a drone strike in Ukraine. Mangled, smoking dogshit
Newsflash: Elon wants to do business with China. He wants to make money. The idea that President Elon is acting purely in your best interests without compromising national security makes someone the absolute dumbest of dumb sheep.
Just imagine a new government coming in and exposing all kinds of waste in NASA and saying that we're getting rid of all spaceflight as a result. How do you think Elon would react to that? Because it's the same thing. They just chose a different target to do the stupid performative BS.
You're happy to cheer for the damage to your own country. The mangled smoking dogshit is our national security.

Yeah, it was my taxpayer dollars going to reports on what China was doing, and similar stuff that protects America.

No one wants #2...?
Wait, let's rethink this. I actually think #2 is a beautiful solution.
And the only permanent, complete solution to the existance of the Russian problem. Just imagine a world in which Russia is extinct.
I'm with you... not that the Russian people should be extinct, but their fricking government and insane militaristic religion are gone.
The one concern is those nukes... and who would grab them as they collapse?
And also - and this is the big concern with China, too - as they demographically collapse and thus economically collapse, when they are staring at the end, do they spitefully do destructive things because they nihilistically have nothing to lose?
RussiaBeyond (2019): Why is Russia's population destined for a sharp decline?
from 2019, before the War casualties and mass exodus of young people because of it, so I'd suspect the outlook is even worse, now.
Not that Ukraine is in great shape, demographically, or a lot of Europe... but they aren't Russia... people can be incentivized to relocate to those places and support the economies.

But I'm getting drawn off- topic. USAID isn't about Ukraine, except marginally, and the money that was going to Ukraine is not necessary now that Ukraine is getting the $50 billion in loans from frozen Russian assets.
It's really irrelevant to this thread, so I will shut up about and just led the idiocy flow free from the dumbasses

No matter how much Russia states its maximalist objectives and dismisses any discussions that don't cave to that, you manage to naively "think" they just want what they had from the beginning...

And its like you have 0 understanding of what public statements in war are used for.
You'd have to be an absolute tard to be forthcoming with your actual "must haves" in any conflict... war, business, or personal. Which you might actually be based on some of your takes.

Well they were wounded.....but lived a couple of days.....they are a winner.
Do you people hear yourselves, ukraine is done. 20% of the country has left, another10% is dead or disabled for life. They have no economy, the infrastructure is a mess. The friggin US is supporting the entire country, not just weapons but everything.
They owe the US 300 billion and Russia another 50 billion, as well as close to 100 billion to the EU.
The only thing left are oligarchs that are cargo pants buddies.....and poor people who did not have the means to leave.
Its over, its been over.

You need medication sir.
