No dude. I read several Russian history books long before 2022. It is OBVIOUS what happened and that nothing has actually changed since the Mongols took over. Maybe the Donbas is the same as Russia in thinking. Whether Boyars, Commissars, or Oligarchs it is they who actually have ruled since then. They all give a cut of their graft and corruption to the top dog.

Have you memorized Mao's Little Red Book too?

Putin will repay the loan....

US to provide $20 billion loan to Ukraine as part of G7 pledge

by Kateryna Hodunova and The Kyiv Independent news desk October 23, 2024 10:19 PM

The U.S. will allocate $20 billion to Ukraine as part of a $50-billion pledge by the Group of Seven (G7), President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Oct. 23 in his evening address.

During the June G7 summit in Italy, G7 leaders publicly confirmed the plan to provide Ukraine with a $50 billion loan by the end of the year which will be repaid using interest from billions in frozen Russian assets.

"This is what will really support us. And it is important to implement it this year, " Zelensky said, thanking the U.S. and the entire G7.

Daleep Singh, the White House deputy national security adviser on international economics, said that Joe Biden's administration intends to split the funds between helping the Ukrainian economy and the military, according to the Associated Press (AP).

"To be clear, nothing like this has ever been done before," Singh said.

"Never before has a multilateral coalition frozen the assets of an aggressor country and then harnessed the value of those assets to fund the defense of the aggrieved party, all while respecting the rule of law and maintaining solidarity."

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs seems a bit triggered (this really is their account).

Ministry of Defense: The ratio of artillery shots between Russia and Ukraine has fallen to a record low

Currently, the ratio of artillery shots between Ukraine and the Russian invasion army at the front is approximately 1 to 2.

Lieutenant General Ivan Havryliuk, First Deputy Minister of Defense, reported this in a blitz interview with RBC-Ukraine.

He also explained what factors he believes this is due to.

The Lieutenant General noted that at the beginning of this year, the ratio of artillery shots fired by Ukrainian and occupation forces was 1 to 7, 1 to 8, and even more in some months. As of early summer, the ratio was 1 to 3.

As of the fall of 2024, this ratio is approximately 1 to 2.

According to the Deputy Minister, the Ukrainian Defense Forces’ successful targeting of the Russian army’s ammunition depots played a role in this.

ISW Update Oct 23rd

quote:

Key Takeaways:

The adoption of the Kazan Declaration on the second day of the BRICS summit in Kazan, Republic of Tatarstan on October 23 demonstrated that Russia has not yet secured the international support nor created the alternative security structure that the Kremlin desires.

People’s Republic of China (PRC) President Xi Jinping reiterated the PRC’s longstanding position calling for de-escalation in Russia’s war in Ukraine and discouraged the involvement of third parties in the war amid reports of Russia preparing to deploy North Korean troops to Ukraine.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian reiterated Iran’s intentions to increase ties with Russia and the People’s Republic of China (PRC) at the BRICS Summit in Kazan, Russia, on October 23.

Russian forces have made significant tactical advances into and around Selydove in recent days, but the Russian military command's apparent focus on securing Selydove has come at the expense of Russian forces' ability to sustain a meaningful offensive drive directly on Pokrovsk — Russia's self-defined operational objective on this sector of the front.

The Pentagon and White House confirmed the deployment of North Korean troops to Russia.

Russia and Belarus announced plans to conduct the “Zapad-2025” command staff exercise on an unspecified date in 2025 against the backdrop of deepening Russian-Belarusian security integration within the Union State framework.

Ukrainian and Russian forces recently advanced in Kursk Oblast.

Russian forces recently advanced near Kupyansk, Pokrovsk, and Vuhledar.

The Russian military is reportedly coercing Russian conscripts into contract service in the Russian military by issuing enlistment bonuses to conscripts who never signed military service contracts with the Russian Ministry of Defense (MoD).

US Congress calls for consideration of "direct military action" if North Korean troops enter Ukraine

Ulyana Krychkovska, Alona Mazurenko — Thursday, 24 October 2024, 13:55

Republican Mike Turner, Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, believes that if North Korean troops join the Russo-Ukrainian war, the United States should consider taking "direct military action".

Source: US newspaper The Hill, as reported by European Pravda

Details: Turner believes that the administration of US President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris "must make clear that North Korean troops entering this conflict are a red line for the United States".

"If North Korean troops were to invade Ukraine’s sovereign territory, the United States needs to seriously consider taking direct military action against the North Korean troops," he said.

NK sending troops is not a red line requiring the US to send troops. In fact I would be against that.

Now if I were a Pole it might give me reason to send troops to help Ukraine; since Russia has widened the war.

For sure Biden needs to allow Ukraine to use long range weaponry to strike targets in Russia.
